We opted for a guestbook scroll in lieu of a traditional guestbook, and it turned out to be quite a nice little keepsake. Other popular guestbook alternatives include wishbowls (which we did in addition to the scroll) or MyPublisher albums. But my current favorite idea is to use a picture book of the city you’re getting married in. So much more interesting than a regular guestbook, no?

our photographer gave us the option of ordering a coffee table guest book with our engagement photos. we won’t get the final book until the week before our wedding, but he emailed us the layouts of the pages - each page is different with watermarks and cool effects on the photos, and lines for the guests to sign. i can’t wait!
I think the picture book is a great idea. My Mom had picked out a Madeleine book I loved as a kid for my shower guest book. I loved it because I now have a book I loved and as flip through it I can find wonderful sentiments from that day.
we were thinking of getting a kolo photobook and sticking pictures from our engagement shoot onto each page. that way, guests can flip through pics as they sign in. i love the city picture book though.. NYC is so unique and beautiful!
yeah… i don’t look at my guestbook at all… i think it’s such a waste… if i was to do it all over again… i’d do a scrapbook guestbook or poloraid guestbook 
That is, unless you’re getting married in a really boring city! 
we did the polaroid/wish bowl. it was a lot of fun reading everyone’s messages and looking at the goofy pictures. i’d recommend having someone watch over the polaroid table so the camera is always loaded with film - a mistake on our part!
i really like the wish bowl idea.. very versatile for later use. a guestbook is a waste, when would you go back and look at people’s signatures? probably never.
Dumb question..but where can the guests sign in a regular picture book? Inside the cover?
calaveritas, they can sign on top of the pictures, or anywhere there’s qhite space/frames around the pictures.
