DIY Mosaic

August 15th, 2006 @ 2:03 pm by Mrs. Bee

The best DIY project contest is over, but Nadia sent us this photo mosaic she made and I thought it was so cool I had to share!

DIY Mosaic : wedding diy Mosaicthankyou1 mosaicthankyou1.jpg

I made a thank you card with Mac’s freeware MacOSaiX - a photo mosaic program. Then I had the mosaic printed into a 6″ by 6″ square card at CatPrint.bz.

Nadia also has an amazing knottie bio of her traditional Kashmiri / Pakistani wedding, but you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see it! :)

a lot of couples ask me where to print the least expensive cards, magnets & invitations… is there a website that is well-known for its low price products?!? (they want to use the engagement pictures to make the above items)…

I already have thank you cards that match my invites and was just going to stick in a wallet sized photo of us from the wedding. … but when i saw her design, i was awestruck! not sure what i’m going to do now…

one work of caution on catprint and other online printer: I ordered my original DIY menu cards from them. The colors on the printed cards did not resemble the colors that I had on the screen (or printed on my home printer). Its not their fault — they print in 4-color (CYMK) and I designed the card in word which uses 3-color (rgb). The rgb colors do not translate well into CYMK. The moral of this story is: If you don’t have MS Publisher or other design program that offer cymk colors, do not send your work to be printed by a 4-color printer (you can still print at home on your regular printer).
