Blogging Bee

August 18th, 2006 @ 3:07 pm by Mrs. Bee

Ok guys… I must admit that I’m in a blogging slump today. I’ve been working hard, doing a lot of meetings, fixing up my apartment… and sometimes it’s hard to come up with new ideas for blogs.

I’ve been blogging pretty much every single day (except for weekends) for the past 3 1/2 years on 4 different blogs. That’s a lot of blogging! Sometimes I can pump out 15 blogs a day easily - actually the more I blog the easier it is. I get caught up in the momentum and blogs beget more blogs. Other days I have to work so hard just to squeeze out a couple of blogs.

Plus it’s Friday, I have carpenters coming over tomorrow to do a lot of work and I need to prep the apartment, I need to pack and buy supplies for a camping trip I’m going on this weekend, and I feel guilty for leaving behind all the work I should be doing instead.

So I apologize for the lack of bloggage yesterday and today. Hopefully I’ll be refreshed and good as new come Monday. :) To help get my creative juices flowing, please tell me, what would you like to see us blog about?

I would like to see bag/purse ideas. I can’t find any reasonably priced ones that I like!

I would love any blogs that talk about doing a wedding on a budget! Not the kind of suggestions you see in those budget wedding books, like, borrow a wedding dress from the drama department, but REALISTIC ones where you still have a fab-looking wedding.

Happy weekend!

Weddings on a budget is a good one. I’m going out of my mind trying to figure out how to pay for this wedding.

I also like the idea of color schemes for each season. With fall around the corner (and, my bias towards the season due to my own October wedding next year), it would be cool to see some fresh ideas for autumn on here.

You guys find a lot of unique, cool, hip stuff.

Even with the blogging block… you couldn’t resist a weekday without one!

Take a break - you deserve it!

I’d love to see DIY flower ideas.

Also ‘other’ forms of entertainment in addition to a band/dj.

More fun food ideas - like the hotdog stands you blogged about recently!

Everyone needs a little R&R, so take advantage of you’re little get-a-way. You deserve it.

I would like to see more information about pre-wedding parties, like creative ideas for bridal/bachelorett parties/rehearsal & dinner rehearsal. I’m a BM for my cousin’s wedding, and I wanted to make her a bouquet for her rehearsal, for me it was hard to find information on that. Also, I didn’t want to use a plate to make it, so instead I thought of using styrofoam (it worked well to stick to fake flowers that came on serveral gifts).

a blog about combining “old world” cultural influences (to appease the parents and relatives) yet infuses the modern day style to weddings (to appease us brides!)– at least a budget friendly approach to it thats is (i.e. not having two seperate banquets)

i ask this because where i live, there are a lot of first generation vietnamese, and while we would love to have a beautiful modern wedding, we always get pushed towards having the typical chinese banquet (with color schemes and tacky gold characters that we may not like…)

I would like to see ideas regarding decorating for a VERY casual reception. I’m having a gumbo reception in my dad’s backyard in October (he lives in the south so it won’t be too cold - don’t worry!). I’m having a dickens of a time trying to find pretty (my color scheme is blues/greens) yet inexpensive disposable plates, bowls, etc. I know that sounds cheap - but I’m hoping I can find something that will make it not LOOK cheap (if that’s possible).

ehrrr, basically, my question is– how do you dress up a chinese restaurant to make it look less gaudy and more modern.

I wouldn’t mind more of the seasonal colors, as well as the DIY flowers! I’m currently looking for favors that aren’t like, $5 per person! So, maybe some cute favors that won’t make me take out a loan? Also, I’d love to see some centerpieces that aren’t flowers. We’re trying to do as much without flowers as possible!

Enjoy your vacation, and take care of yourself!

Oh, I would also like to know the pros and cons of attending bridal shows vs. just doing your own research online.

Happy weekend!

*ahem* Maybe this is a good chance for you to try out blogging around the country.. so many of your fans are from outside of the NY area so maybe you can devote 1 post (we’ll call it a compromise) to major cities around the U.S. Just a general post like good favor ideas, unique venues, & reccommendations from other readers from the area.

I definitely love the DIY flower idea and the inexpensive favors. Seems like you either have to take out a second mortgage or settle with a place card in a tiny picture frame (not that those aren’t nice, but everyone I know must have at least a couple of those already). Something original, yet cheap is what I’m looking for.
