Store/Style: Zappos, Irregular Choice Spider 3121-1B
Heel: 4″
Price: $113.95
Call me nuts, but I am absolutely ga-ga over these shoes! I’m getting married on a Texas ranch in October 2006, my colors are orange and yellow… and so the colors are perfect. My dress has lace, so the scalloped lace detail is perfect. And the little spider??? Well, that’s pretty much the cutest, most whimsical thing ever and how perfect for an October wedding! It is very Little Miss Muffett. Nobody sees your shoes unless you lift up your dress to show them off, and I can see some really cute photos happening with these darlings!

When I found these I was looking for shoes to be my “something blue”, and these three were all my top contenders. It will be a difficult decision!

Entry #3: Joy
Store/Style: Ebay
Heel: 3 3/4″
Price: $299, $685 retail
OK, I never thought I would enter something like this, but here is my Shoe Story.
Like Miss Ant, I found a pair of Louboutin’s that I absolutely loved. And I bought them. Off Ebay. That’s right! EBAY. I wasn’t too worried about fit as I had tried on another pair of CL’s at the Bergdorf sale and they were fine on my feet…Those shoes were too expensive and not the right color, though.
These shoes, on the other hand, are perfect for me. They are not traditional wedding shoes. I love that they are gold and I love the red tassels on the heel. I think it’s a nice nod to my Chinese heritage. Plus, I feel much less guilty about having bought them as I’m certain I will wear them again. I must wear them again!
The biggest problem I have is that they are about ¾” higher than anything I have ever worn before. I am 5 feet tall, so you would think I always teeter around in heels, but I have been lazy recently and pad around in flip flops all the time. I desperately need a pair of Insolias! (or is the plural Insoliae?)
Oh, and they were $299-but they retail at $685, so I really saved money. Plus, as I said-I will. wear. them. again.

Heel: 2 3/4″
Price: $50
In short, because they are FABULOUS. I knew I wanted strappy, gold and fashionable, but I wasn’t willing to part with my money for just any pair. When these shoes found me, it was like a dream come true.
For the real story, please bear with me…FI and I are planning a long engagement, but I am always crazy about finding “just the right pair” for all my special outfits. I once went on a six-month hunt for a pair I wore one New Year’s Eve. At least FI knew what he was getting into. I wasn’t exactly on a mission to find my shoes, as I like to tell my friends, the shoes found me. I am an extremely budget-minded person, some might say frugal, fiscally responsible or just plain cheap, so I hit up the usual suspects: DSW (multiple times), Marshalls, TJ Maxx, zappos.com, shoebuy.com. I also planned my schedule around sales at Nordstrom, Saks, Neimans and Bloomingdales. Found a great pair of Michael Kors on Zappos, but it turned out the gold color my monitor displayed was actually more green in person - thankfully Zappos has free shipping. One weekend FI and I decided to head up to Woodbury…As we browsed the stores I found several gorgeous pairs of shoes. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a great pair of ivory silk Via Spiga strappies ($79) or the dazzling gold pair at Stuart Weitzman ($99). But my heart skipped a beat when my eyes found the perfect pair, Kate Spade Italia. I quickly snatched up the shoes in the busy store and did the first thing I always do, price check. My heart skipped a few more beats when I read $50. After I tried them on, did the requisite sashay for FI and, of course, the comfort test, I was sold. After tax the shoes were around $55. I love them, but not as much as FI.
