Also, I'm an obsessive compulsive when it comes to crafts. And not just the ordinary kind of obsessive compulsive who needs to have everything even and aligned. No. I've gilded the heads of pins to make sure they looked properly antique. Gilded them. Then coated them in german glass glitter. I am that crazy.
About Mrs. Caterpillar

My bridesmaids might be in Zanzibar, but their gifts are here!

The UPS man came this afternoon and dropped off a gigantic package from Bonbon Oiseau. And in it were these . . . .

And, I think they are amazing! I love the attention to detail — the packaging is gorgeous. Deb — the brilliant mind behind Bonbon Oiseau — even included a little gift for me, a vintage handkerchief edged in blue and tied with a red ribbon and a wishbone charm for luck!

I originally found Bonbon Oiseau through my obsessive love for all things bird-related. Browsing through a small shop in Williamsburg, I found a pair of earrings created out of vintage brass charms — a bird on one side and a key on the other. I bought them, and ended up wearing them every day for months. I wanted everyone I knew to wear these earrings, so when it came time for bridesmaids gifts, Bonbon Oiseau was the first place I looked.

Luckily, Deb does custom work. She and I met a few months ago to talk about the pieces I wanted, then she went into her magical workshop and some sort of miracle occurred and for the first time in all my wedding related planning and organizing I actually got exactly what I wanted.

She created individualized hair tucks for each of my bridesmaids, and added detachable charm bracelets. We picked out the charms together. Totally perfect — something for during the wedding, and something for after.

And, they’re handmade in Brooklyn.

Best. Thing. Ever.
