Insolia Shoe Contest Round 5

August 21st, 2006 @ 3:18 pm by Mrs. Bee

Entry #1: Kathlynn
Store/Style: Antonia, Beverly Feldman’s Diana
Heel: 3 1/4″
Price: $62.40, originally $156

Hi Weddingbee,

I had been searching for my wedding shoes for months. I definitely wanted something that is eye-catching and would make me feel extra special on my wedding day. I’ve lusted after the bling-studded shoes of Guiseppe Zanotti and Manolo Blahnik but they are way over my budget! Their crystal-studded shoes start at $700! My search came to an end when I saw Beverly Feldman’s Diana shoes. I instantly fell in love! It has the crystals that I was looking for, adding glamour to my ensemble. I especially loved the quotation on the sole “Looking Good, Feeling Great! Too much is not enough!” Because indeed, I will be looking good and feeling great wearing these shoes on my wedding day!

These shoes are also available at Zappos but they are $168.95 there! I’ve also seen these shoes at DSW (for $90) but they have poorer quality than what I had bought. The silver leather looked cheap and the sole is not leather. I guess they mass produced the shoe for DSW.

Entry #2: Jennilynn
Store/Style: Kate Spade Illude
Heel: 3″
Price: Anywhere from $123 - $300

I’ve jumped high and landed hard on the blue shoe bandwagon. In my search for the perfect blue shoes I came across the absolute sassiest shoes that I’ve ever laid eyes on and I’ve fallen in love…again. These would be the perfect surprise peeking out from under my dress (or a pair of jeans, or with a cute skirt). Classy with a bit of fun. How I long to caress the feathers. How I long to smell the suede. How I…oh, hi. Ahem. Sorry. If I ever find these in 9.5’s, mark my words, they will be mine!

They can be found at Zappos…If you are a size 6

Entry #3: Barbie
Store/Style: J. Crew, Satin Big-Bow Slinkbacks
Heel: 3″
Price: purchased for $48 on ebay, originally $185

Hi Mrs. Bee–

I love your site and read it, oh about 10 times per day. I live in south Florida and have gotten so much great info and many great resources!!! This contest caught my eye because not only do my feet always hurt, but I love love love love my wedding shoes, so here I go…

I spent weeks looking for a classic shoe to go with my very simple, streamlined dress and just fell in love with these jcrew satin big-bow slingbacks. Since my FI and I are ‘footing’ the bill (so to speak) for the big day, I just couldn’t do it, although I longed for the shoes and visited the shoes on line daily and continued to search for an alternative. Nothing caught my eye like these made in Italy babies, so I decided to start seaching ebay and totally lucked out– one of the shoe stores posted 2 pairs in my size. So my ebay loving FI told me not to bid and he would take care of it… when the auction ended on the 4th of July, he had managed to ‘win’ them for the low, low price of $48 (including shipping)! They were delivered a week later and fit to perfection…sometimes I just take them out of the shoe bag I keep them in and try them on for our two pooches when the FI i sn’t home :)

I love the clean lines of my simple, classic shoes and can’t wait to wear them (in public, not just in front of the dogs)!

Thanks for taking the time to read about my 2nd love (my 1st is my FI, of course :) )

Entry #4: Mel
Store/Style: Off-Broadway Shoes (it’s similar to DSW) in SoCal, Dyeables
Heel: 4″
Price:$39.90

Hi Mrs. Bee -

First of all: As I’m sure you’ve heard a gazillion times - I love your website (along with the rest of the wedding-planning world). I think I read it about a gazillion times a day (no joke, i must check it every 30 minutes at work)!

Although these shoes are nothing special… tall, white, satin, and obviously wedding-day inspired, lemme tell you, they’re quite special for me. First of all, they’re the tallest heels I’ve ever bought and ever worn! Also, these shoes are a manifestation of a compromise between my mom and me. You see, as much as we might love each other, my mom and I are quite different when it comes to dressing ourselves. I’m more of a flip-flip and jeans girl; my mom’s a woman who always looks fabulous. We’ve always accepted this fact with acceptance. But, when I (we) started planning for the wedding, we diverged. I imagined white flip flops; she imagined tall white beautiful heels (esp since my hun is 6 inches taller than me). Though we could’ve argued ’til kingdom come, we instead stuck a bargain: wear tall heels during the ceremony and flip flops during the reception. And although this might be a common practice in the world of brides, we were both proud of ourselves and are both quite happy with the arrangement. Not only are the only $40, but I’ve realized how sexy my feet can look! Watch out New York!

But, since I never-ever-ever wear heels, I definitely need some Insolias to prevent me from tripping, or even worse, falling flat on my face!! Plus, once I have one pair of Insolias, who knows where my high-heel shoe journey may go!

Thanks!

Ohh Jennilyn - I wish I had known you were looking for these in a 9.5 - I sold a pair for $50 on eBay not too long ago! Sorry, don’t mean to torture you…but they are beautiful and I will keep my eyes peeled :-)

Jennilyn - those are gorgeouts, but since suede can bleed its dye, I would be very wary of wearing them with a white dress!
