In today’s beehive:

  • janet is looking for a dress similar to Jessica Alba’s Versace 2006 Academy Awards dress.
  • Michelle is looking for a makeup artist in the Philadelphia/Delaware County area.
  • newly_engaged is looking for dress rental places in LA/OC.
  • Tea wants to know if it’s possible to make paper fan programs out of the fans that fold up (like the sandalwood ones), and if you whether you have a template.
  • K is looking for a planning software we previously featured that both the bride and bridesmaids can use to stay on track.

See all past beehives here. To add your question to the beehive, leave a comment below and we’ll update this post to include your question.

Janet, I love that dress too! I thought it’d make a fabulous wedding dress too if the color is right.

Oh, Janet, I guess you’re wearing it not to a wedding but to a ball. My bad :-P.

places to rent a gown in LA/Orange County? I’ve visted La Soie in Tustin. Have an appt to try on gowns at Mon Amie in Costa Mesa on Thurs. My parents are hell bent on me checking out places (korean or not) where i can rent a dress. i’m not fond on the idea, but figured i may need to rent one for my engagement pics anyways!

Nicole-

Claudia Seyler, Cali of Calista Brides, or Face the Occasion. ALso, have you thought about going to a MAC counter?

hi. i’m helping my best friend plan her wedding and i was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to make your own programs on those paper fans [the ones that fold up...like the sandalwood ones]. does anyone know if there’s a template? i’ve only seen paddle fans. am i crazy to try to attempt this?

Rent (or buy) your wedding dress from Beautiful Day Bridals I actually found my dress at Mon Amie in Costa Mesa and it was going to cost me $$$ I didnt have to buy the dress, the required alterations and since I was getting very close to the required 6 month mark I was probably going to have to pay the “rush fee”.
That’s when Beautiful Day saved the day and got the dress I wanted. First of all, since they didnt have my exact dress they were able to order my dress for me. No rush fee by the way! They also gave me the option to rent or buy the dress. I chose to rent. They also have fabulous accessories (veil, tiara, hair peices, jewelry) you can rent for free as well. They don’t charge extra for alterations either! They even made me a shawl in my matching wedding dress fabric just in case the weather got chilly. And even let my mom borrow jewelry (for free) and made alterations on her outfit at the last minute. They saved me about $1400!

My bestfriend is getting married next year, and has asked me to be her MOH. I think I remember seeing once before, an entry about an online calendar for wedding planning that could be shared between bride and bridal party… like a shared calendar that everyone could see, edit, etc. I’d appreciate it if you could refresh my memory or if anyone else could refer me to something of the sorts?! It would help us out muchos since we are currently 8 hours driving distance away from eachother!

For those of you who purchased favors online, where did you buy them from? Were you happy with the quality?

Nancy,
I loved the little favor box kits at sophiesfavors dot com

You can put little candies into the very cute boxes, and I love the labels the kits come with.
Great quality. I used them for my bridesmaid’s luncheon.
