Are you looking for birdcages to use as your card holder? Check out these pretty ones from Neiman Marcus and Pottery Barn.

Neiman Marcus – $55-$95

Pottery Barn – $29, $59, $79

But for the best deals on vintage birdcages, your best bet is probably ebay.

I have several, possibly ignorant, questions that I’ve been wondering about lately: What’s a card holder? And why does a woman need to carry a purse on her wedding day?

Hi Suzy,

A card holder is to collect the wedding cards that people bring to the wedding. As for wedding purses, I don’t really see why they’re needed either. :)

Great find! My friend is getting married in October and has been searching hi and low for wooden domed birdcages. The neiman marcus ones are wood, but fiberboard is close enough right? I hope I win the best bridesmaids award! :) jk

A wedding purse is necessary for those of us who have oil slick faces two hours after applying makeup.

Not to mention – lipstick rubs off and no one looks good with that pinkish stain it leaves in its wake.

A card holder is a good way to keep the cards together and prevent them from falling off the gift table and getting lost. Also, since many hold money, it’s good to have someone periodically check on the cards and having them all in one place is easiest.

card holders are great… i wish we had one… we just had the bestman hold on to all of them…

as for the purse, sometimes brides keep make up, touch up, etc. (i think that’s what the bridesmaids are for) :)

and other have purses for the money dance…

i bought a bridal purse and put some make-up in it… altho i must say i wasn’t photographed with it so i could have used any purse. i can actually see cute pics carrying your purse in your wedding attire while taking pictures in the streets of new york.
