Postcard RSVP’s

August 23rd, 2006 @ 2:00 pm by Mrs. Butterfly

I’m stationery-challenged.

When my mock-up invitation came in, I saw the RSVP card with my address printed on the back.

So I thought the printed address on the back was an example of what the RSVP envelope would look like. It is a mock-up, so I just figured that she didn’t put in all of the pieces.

Last night, as I was going through the different pieces of the invitation, I realized that I did not have any RSVP envelopes. So I emailed Adrienne from Custom Programs and asked her to send it out pronto. She writes me back within 3 minutes to tell me that the RSVP’s are actually post cards.

Duh~. Like I said, I’m stationery-challenged.

Anyway, I absolutely love the idea of a postcard RSVP! I know people are horrible about returning RSVP’s to begin with, especially Koreans, so I’m hoping this will make it at least that much more convenient. Just fill it out and drop it in! (Come to think of it, it’s not that much more easier than a regular RSVP, huh?)

Now my only concern is that people won’t flip it over to see that its a postcard. whatevah2.gif

Are you assembling your invitations yourself? If you put a stamp on each one and have the stamp side facing outwards when they open the invite they will have to flip it over to see that its a RSVP. They already saw the stamp on the opposite side, so we can hope they will put two and two together!

Hey :) just thought you might want to know that there are many people who find the word “retarded” to be offensive…It’s not a politically correct words, and while it is commonly used to mean “stupid”, its actual meaning is being “mentally handicapped”…I know you didn’t mean it that way, but just wanted to give you a heads up, so perhaps you could avoid using that word in the future…:) HTH

ooh, i did RSVP postcards, too, and so far so good… i’ve got ~55% of them returned in two weeks, so i’m proof positive that korean people can figure it out.

def, the stamps make it a no-brainer - i stuffed my pocket-fold envelope w/ the stamp facing upward, so they knew it was a postcard.

side note: i designed my postcards myself and left a little blank area, in the hopes that some of my friends would write us little messages and cute notes… and it worked! some of the notes are so hilarious, they make me LOL.

heh. i think if you have the stamp on it, they will hopefully figure it out. i know i received a postcard rsvp from my friend and i thought it was a very clever idea!

definitely presstamp. plus, it makes it easier to send back since i’m forever looking for a stamp and putting things off because i haven’t found one.

We did the RSVP postcards too. Some are getting a little messed up due to all the machines they go through at the post office; however, as long as they make it back to me safely, I am happy.

The first thing my aunt said was, “You forgot envelopes for the RSVPs!”

@Random…: @Random…: @Random…: @Random…: Hey Ignorant Random person. Nobody is interested in what you consider PC. This is a wedding blog, talking about rsvp postcards. I’m sure “Ms. Butterfly” wasn’t writing to offend you, but I’d love to meet you in person so that I could really offend you. Nobody is interested in your thin skin or your feelings. Get over it. Words are words, regardless of their intentions. You’re part of the problem with this country. Everyone’s afraid to say anything because someone may get offended. Not me. I’m thinking you must be retarded. Go do something productive.

You probably shouldn’t start off a blog with “I’m retarded” some people do find that offensive

Don’t worry about all the negative comments on here. I use that phrase sometimes and you are writing from your heart. I love the idea of RSVP Postcards! I am doing that as well with our wedding invitations. I have been told that there doesn’t need to be postage on the postcard, however, I think I’ll throw it on just in case. Best wishes!

Hi, im helping my sister in law with her wedding and i want to come up with an RSVP card that will in a nice way say adults only.

Also, Shannon you say you don’t have to put postage on postcards, why is that? I’m not sure I understand that concept?

As to Postcards

For those of you who had postcards printed . . . do you know if anyone custom shapes them . . . for example a heart-shaped postcard? I planned to take a sample to the post office to see if they will even mail it but figured maybe one of you wise and crafty people might know the answer and/or a printer who will make them . . . Thanks in advance for any helpful responses. =)

Oh yeah, and my fiance and I are going to attempt to have an adults only wedding, but we don’t have too many people with kids attending so we have spoken with our closest friends who are parents. We are also playing with the idea of putting, either as a footnote type thing or on our wedding website or info card something to the extent of . . . “Please be apprised of the adult friendly environment. As such we encourage arranging for childcare for the evening and joining us for a night out” . . . or “Arranging for babysitter on [DATE] is strongly encouraged” . . . *Shrug*

We are also planning to make our RSVP person specific, such as :
“Mr. John S. Doe __will, __will not be attending.”

Just thoughts. . .
