And They Call It Puppy Love

August 24th, 2006 @ 4:46 pm by Mrs. Orchid

I can’t imagine having my wedding without my furbabies somehow being a part of it. Even though they might not have a functional part like walking down the aisle with me or doing something significant, I want them present nonetheless. Call me crazy, but my pets are part of my family. To some they may just be a dog, an animal; but to me they are my adopted son & daughter, who is furry, short, walks on all fours, and doesn’t speak.

My baby girl Sango was strutting her stuff in her cute beaded sweater at my engagement ceremony last Christmas.

She and her little brother Vash will also be there for the Thai water ceremony I will be having on my wedding day.

It’s not uncommon these days to have your beloved pet in your wedding, as shown in the recent articles below.

I know I’m not the only insano one that wants my furbabies to have a part in their wedding. I’ve even been searching for outfits for them - I think I want Sango to wear this pink dress and Vash in this little tux.

Look at the pictures below of people who had their furbabies with them on their wedding day! :)

Would you/are you including your pet in your wedding day? What ideas do you have about this topic?

I have a dog myself, and I love her, but I do have some guests attending who are allergic to dogs, or are afriad of them (one has been attacked) or who simply don’t like them. Out of respect or my friends, I would never have my dog, well-bahved as she is, at my wedding or any other party. YMMV, of course!

my doggie HAD to be in our wedding… he was our ringbear… he was in a tuxedo & my aunt even altered it for him :)

she added 2 ribbons to the back of the tux to hold our rings :)

and it all worked out PERFECTLY!!!

we have two kittens together so cats are really difficult to physically include in a wedding, instead i’m putting their picture on the grooms cake, and have their pictures made into cufflinks that my FI can wear with his tux. thatway our babies will be there with us!

We have a dachshund, but he’s a bit um… snarky, fo put it in the best way possible. He’s a dear, and we love him, but he gets worked up about little kids, and has to jump on everyone. We were going to use him as our ring-weiner, but now it’s not a good idea. We get a free suite the night of our wedding, and it’s pet friendly, so I may have my Dad bring him over, and then drop my dad’s granddog at his house when we honeymoon.

if we had a small dog there would be no question about it, but our dog isn’t small, so we don’t know.. but i really really want to include her!

Aww! I love your Yorkies!! They are so cute. :) I want to include our Yorkie, but I don’t think we will be able to, as he is such a people person — he would have to say hello to all 200 guests. And of course, he can’t forget the excited lick all over your face greeting! He’d probably have a heart attack, he’d be so excited. Lol.

Very cute! Just curious… how did you come to pick the name Vash? We’re naming a kitten that because we both love the anime Trigun.
I love the little dress and tux.

Angie: His full registered name at AKC is ‘Vash the Stampede” I love anime also. Trigun is one of my favorites! I thought it would be a cute name for him since he’s so full of energy, yet he’s maxed out at only 3.5lbs! :)

I would love to have my dog at my wedding. Unfornately my 4 pound Chihuahua would rather rip the legs off of the guests than be good.

Haha! It is always the small dogs who are like that; I guess they feel they have to compensate for their diminutive size!

Awww, they are adorable! We only have cats & chinchillas, and they aren’t so good at public functions…or dressing up! LOL!

Tooo coool! That’s why we named our little kitten that! :) His full name is also Vash the Stampede… but he’s a cat, so he doesn’t get to be registered.
Good luck with your wedding. I hope that Vash and Sango get to attend in full dress! :)
