Print Gocco

August 24th, 2006 @ 3:52 pm by Mrs. Bee

I’m still obsessed with the Gocco. My only reluctance in purchasing one is that I’m so busy I’m afraid I won’t have the time to play with it (my huge scrapbooking collection has sadly been collecting dust for the past couple of years). It’s also a bit pricey with all the pieces I’d need and I’ve been trying to cut back on expenses.

But I’m dreaming about all the fabulous weddingbee t-shirts, and cards, and crafts I could create with this baby. Then it’d just be a business expense. ;)

These are the ebay auctions I have my eye on:

Print Gocco PG-5 Hi-Mesh B6 - currently @ $172.50, auction ending today

gocco.jpg

Handstamp Kit for Cloth - currently @ $26.00, auction ending tomorrow

gocco2.jpg

or maybe I should get the large format Gocco - currently @ $14.00 w/ a $50 shipping cost :o, auction ending in 5 days

Oh wise Gocco owners, advise me please. Should I get a Gocco?

I saw your post earlier and fell in love with this little machine. Immediately I had Willy Wonka style visions in my head.

B-6 at dick blick for 45.99 plus shippping. Saves you quite a bit.

I went to the paper source today in DC, and they’re not selling the machine anymore, but they are selling the inks.

i went to paper source georgetown a while back, and spoke to a nice saleswoman who had a print gocco. she had lots of great advice, and said it would be very easy and cheap to print invites or favors or assorted wedding products!

get the larger one for $14+$50 OR get both, test them out and sell one back on ebay.

if they discontinue the ink, are there other compatible inks?

I had a discussion today with my husband trying to convince him to purchase this gismo for me. He said that I will surely collect dust and not use it like other stuff that I got in the long run. I got this sewing machine and never even bother to use it. So I guess I have to wait.

Thanks to you, Mrs. Bee I am so obsessed with Gocco too. I’ve just spent the entire morning at work (eek!) researching and I found this vendor:

http://www.welshproducts.com/printgocco/printgocco_supplies.htm

Except I can’t find anywhere on the site that allows online ordering. I’m not even sure this is an updated website, as the link can’t be found on the homepage. I might just have to give them a call.

I have a box for my GOCCO and all of its parts. Since I live in a tiny studio apartment, the drying process quickly consumes my life whenever I have a project. In 10 months, I’ve made LOTS of projects… one at a time with parts everywhere.

If you’re a stationary junkie - you need one. I have forbid myself from buying ANY stationary other than blank cards to GOCCO. Whenever I see something neat, I go home and make it for myself and save the extras as gifts. I also usually visit PaperSource 2-3x a month… and that inspires me! But it’s only worth it if you’re up for the crafting…

Ignorant question: why is the larger one so much cheaper than the smaller? Does it do and have exactly the same things? If so, it seems like a no-brainer ($172 vs. $64)! What am I missing?

its because the small one’s auction is ending today while the big one still has 5 more days. the price is sure to rise as the days pass.

I’m guessing the larger one’s price will skyrocket before the end of the auction. I looked into these last night and it looked like a large one was going for *gasp* $500+ dollars. A little ridiculous.

It might have been a different model, I’m not sure.

OMG !! In Japan, we use Print-Gocco to make New Years Card. I never thought I would see this in the U.S. and for wedding related things! Fascinating!

I know Pearl Art downtown (uptown for you, Mrs. Bee) used to carry Print Gocco machines. You might want to make your way over.

yes!yes!yes!
and i’m gonna get one too.

long time ago, i took a wedding invitation workshop and the instructor told us that gocco is such a cheaper, easier way to go on any sorts of printing, especially for weddings.

i’ve been putting off the urge to get one myself ’til i read mrs. bee’s posts.
:) it’s all your fault. hahah j/k!!

The Gocco rocks! Get one while you can, if you can. Riso, the manufacturer, has discontinued selling it in the US. They estimated some months ago that they had enough supplies available for about 3 years worth of business. With the mass stocking up of current owners, there’s surely less. There’s a group of owners who’re trying to convince Riso to keep selling in the US: http://www.savegocco.com/. Outside the US, you can still get them. Japan & Australia are the best bets.

Here’s another place that sells them: http://northwoodstudios.tripod.com/goccoprinters.html and tells you the difference between the models. I just bought the PG10 with the expanded kit and am sooo excited! I was actually on the fence about whether to buy it or not, but I showed it to my fiance and he TOLD me to buy it! He’s a little artsy and thought it’d be fun to play around and experiment with…yay!!! This website also has a 30-day return policy in case you have a change of heart…but they’re not shipping until Sept 1 since they’re waiting to re-stock..
