New Site Layout

August 25th, 2006 @ 6:06 pm by Mrs. Bee

Fashion is Spinach used this awesome concert ticket generator to announce their new site look. Coincidentally, Brother-in-law Bee has been working hard on potential weddingbee layouts today too! So of course I had to create a concert ticket for weddingbee:

Pretty cool huh? Then my weddingbee brain started thinking that concert tickets would be a totally fun idea for save the dates! A perfect precursor to rock and roll invites like Miss Caterpillar’s.

But back to my original point, please check out this new layout for weddingbee. It’s not finished yet and we’re still making lots of little changes, but we wanted to know what you think so far. We’ve added another column on the right so we can accommodate more features and ads, and continue to bring you more weddingbee goodness. :)

And with that, we are finito for the day. Enjoy your weekends everyone!

i think the second column would look better on the left side of the page…but it would definitely be helpful!

That ticket as a save the date with those concert poster invites would be soooo cool!!!

As for the new layout, I think I agree that moving the 2nd column on the left might be helpful. Then maybe you could move the “More” and “Links” sections to the left under the tags section? I always forget that they’re there, buried under all the ads. Also, maybe you could widen the overall text area in the green box? So that the posts took a little less vertical space if that column were a wee bit wider. But I definitely love the idea of the tags section being out there on the main page!

Maybe…is there any way you could just move the ads below the tag cloud? Like you know how when you scroll further down there’s just a bunch of white space to the right of the posts? Maybe you could put the ads there instead and that way you’d be able to utilize the space more.

I agree with asra - the column with the tags, etc. should go on the left side of the page. Otherwise, it seems nice!

I agree with Asra about having the other column on the left side.

However, the new layout still works. Probably a little more padding between the columns, a shaded or color background for the columns, all ads in one column, all weddingbee links in the other, etc. Nice example of similar layout is http://www.coolhunting.com/ and http://www.joshspear.com/.

ooooh. such a good idea to use the ticket as save-the-date. and, for those of us who aren’t walking down the aisle anytime soon, it could make a cute regular party invite as well.

thanks for the link! your site is really cute. i think i should hire brother-in-law bee to help me too. : )

I agree–move it to the left :)

I think that the tags should run in a grouped horizontal fashion across the top of the page underneath the tags. Love the ticket!

sweet ticket. i love all the “B” references. the layout is a bit “buggy” for me - too much going on. but, sadly, i can’t offer any suggestions. i’m not good with things like that.

Hello! I’m an avid reader of your site and must say that it is such a great way to meet new people, get ideas, and of course help plan your wedding! Please keep up the good work! Also, I was looking around and saw this… I thought of you and thought you might wanna look at it! http://store.dooney.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpSctDspRte.jsp?section=21419

i like that you’re adding the tags to the new site! the only comment i have is that the posts don’t look like the main focus anymore when they are all the way on the left. maybe if they are moved under the “links” section? or as asra mentioned, moving the tags column to the right is a good suggestion too. can’t wait to see the new layout :)
