Open Question: Invitation Wording

August 25th, 2006 @ 2:09 pm by Mrs. Bee

Hello fellow weddingbee’rs :)

I was married in a very small civil ceremony in June in Pennsylvania. My husband and I are throwing a large reception for my family in October down south in Mississippi. We are going to have a preacher “bless the marriage” in a short ceremony before the reception begins. I had the wording all figured out before we decided to include the blessing - now I’m perplexed! This is how I was going to word it….(I’m printing my own invites by the way).

What do you think? Thanks for your help!

I would leave everything as is, except where it says “in a celebration” say “for a blessing & celebration”. What do you think?

Thanks Tea :) I must admit I stole the general idea from somewhere online - I don’t even remember where!

I think it’s lovely the way it is- the blessing is part of the celebration. Or you could drop the time from the date line and say “join us in a celebration at… Blessing at 4 p.m., with reception to follow.
