Real Life Wedding Crashers

August 26th, 2006 @ 11:15 am by Mrs. Bee

Ashton Kutcher is producing a new reality tv show based on the hit movie Wedding Crashers, where actors will crash real weddings to amuse and confuse guests.

If Ashton crashed my wedding, I’d be absolutely livid! I didn’t think it was cool when Oprah crashed several weddings to collect footage for a show she was doing either. Just because you’re a celebrity doesn’t mean that you’re welcome everywhere - especially on a day as important as someone’s wedding day.

How would you feel if Oprah crashed your wedding? How would you feel if your friends and family were in on having Ashton Kutcher crash your wedding?

Song says:

I am sorry but if anybody ruins my wedding day on purpose, I am going to have a fit! When you have spent thousands of dollars on your wedding only to have it become a joke footage for an Ashton Kutcher show or become footage for Oprah’s life category topics–well, it’s a nightmare.

The only exception to anybody crashing my wedding or anyone else’s would be if they came with a big blank check to cover all the wedding expenses they are consuming.

I would be furious–we’re talking a full-blown, camera shoving producer screaming TEMPTER TANTRUM. It’s one thing to sign up for A Wedding Story or have your video shown on Wild Weddings, but it’s something completely different for them to just show up, take the attention off you and your spouse, and wreak havoc on the whole thing.

I think it’s absolutely horrible that anyone–especially celebrities like Oprah and Ashton Kutcher–would think this could be a good idea that would have positive results.

Miss Poppy says:

i would be furious as well. if that ever happened we would just have them thrown out. it’s rude and i know they wouldn’t like it if it happened to them… so why do they do it to others? meh.

Ashley says:

I would become THE fucking bridezilla. I would completely go off, and then sue. And I would win, because technically, without a written contract from the people hosting the ceremony/reception/bride/groom/whatever, they can’t DO that. They can’t.

It’s wrong that just because someone has “celebrity status” [which we won’t go there on how ridiculous I think that whole thing is] they assume that they can get away with ruining a couple’s special day.

lindsay says:

yeah, i’d be upset. hands down. it’s our day and don’t you dare distract from that. ugh, i shudder just thinking about it.

marilyn says:

I really don’t know how I would react but I don’t think a 10 minute “drop in ” would ruin my entire wedding experience.
Fortunately, the two brides Oprah crashed didn’t find it intrusive at all. They both were pretty excited about the whole thing.

Miss Ant says:

I’m not sure how I’d react. But I know that my fiance would be very upset! He likes his privacy and was insistent on a small, intimate wedding.

Ms. Nina says:

Oprah actually did upset one family. She crashed a private ceremony for her own benefit — not cool. I would be very angry if that stunt was pulled at my wedding.

Style Graduate says:

Well, if a really cool celebrity like James Earl Jones happened to drop by, that would be awesome. If somebody came either with a film crew, or for any commerical purpose, there would be a phone call to police, and a lawsuit filed, no question about it.

If Tom Cruise showed up I would probably point and laugh, though!

10.
Style Graduate says:

Oh, and if my friends and family were in on it, they’d be dead. Of course, they never would so, so it isn’t a worry for me. :)

mrs. ladybug keeps saying she’s going to crash my wedding. it would be hilarious if she did!!

Swedish bride says:

For Oprah I would make an exeption, but if someone else tried to crush our wedding they would have to pay… *devilish laughter*

But its still very rude. I’m suprised by Oprah, did’nt think she would do something like that…

Luckily for me, Sweden is faaar away from Ashton Kutcher :D

D says:

I like Oprah. She’s done a lot of good wiht the wealth she’s amassed over the last 20+ years. However, it does seem unfair that she would take it upon herself to upstage a bride and groom on one of the most important days of their lives.

However, that being said, it sounds like she was fortunate enough to encounter people who don’t think the same thing.

Ashton Kutcher is obnoxious. If he’s doing this just to make fun of the bride and groom, he deserves whatever fury comes his way. Average people have to deal with enough stress shelling out thousands upon thousands of hard earned dollars to make a wedding day happen, and it’s apalling that some wildly rich celebrity, who probably threw himself a multi-million dollar affair, thinks he has the right to walk in, take over, and mock the event.

Yukirei says:

If Oprah crashed my wedding I would ask her for one of her Rolex watches. If my friends and family were in on Kutcher crashing my wedding they would cease to exist. After I let them have a taste of the wedding cake.=P

Angie says:

I would be highly peeeved! Now some celebrity’s I wouldn’t mind (Bon Jovi, Tom Hanks, etc), but Ashton Kutcher? I’d go after him with whatever I could get my hands on! Not only is wedding crashing rude, you know he’d make fun of people in the process!
I agree with D, Kutcher is OBNOXIOUS!

SC says:

When Oprah shows up at your wedding, the wedding stops being about the couple. The wedding will always be remembered as the wedding that Oprah showed up to. She should know better.

17.
Aim says:

I agree with SC. When a celebrity shows up and crashes the wedding, all the attention goes to the celebrity and not to what is most important that day - the bride and groom. I would be upset if that happened.

18.
Tea says:

i’m with sc too. though, i guess i wouldn’t be as peeved if the celeb showed up without a camera crew. then it doesn’t really matter. i feel like it wouldn’t be as obstrusive.

Marissa says:

I’m acquainted with one of the girls Oprah dropped in on here in Oklahoma (you think at least we’d be safe) and she was thrilled with the intrusion. I do think it would’ve been less rude if she had been a respectful guest of the entire event…not just a whirlwind of “look at me” that dropped in unexpected to the reception.
I was sightly annoyed that the only gift Oprah gave the couple was the dishware from their registry. If i had only registered for a 42 piece casual set from Bed Bath and Beyond, I would’ve been bent. Not to be ungrateful or anything, but seriously, you crash my wedding I better be getting a car or a down payment for my house!

katie says:

i wouldn’t mind if oprah crashed my wedding because i’m a huge fan of hers!! i think it’s so admirable how much she tries to help other people all the time. i respect her. if she crashed my wedding, i know that it would be one wedding that everyone would be talking about. i think it would be a once in a lifetime moment/memory that i would tell my kids, their kids, etc. ashton kutcher, on the other hand, i would seriously strangle if he pulled a stunt like that. i can’t stand him. he’s so freaken annoying and i find nothing funny about him.

21.
K says:

Ashton would no longer have balls. Simple as that. There would be HELL to pay. I’d probably mess up Oprah, too.

22.
Ophelia says:

We’d probably have a good laugh about it, but I guess it also depends on what they do. Plus, my relatives would be SOOO confused, I’d have to explain that someone is a celebrity in Chinese, and they’d all still give me blank stares.

23.
Miss Butterfly says:

i would be soooo angry! then i would sue his show…..but here’s the thing, even after he crashed your wedding, you would still have to sign off on whether they can use the footage, right? because they cant just put you on tv if you dont sign off…..so in the end, it would all be for nothing. which would be even more infuriating.

we should start a petition and say that the premise of this show is absolutely infuriating to brides who have spent months and even years planning and obsessing over their one perfect day.

if he ever crashed my wedding, i would make him pay for the entire thing PLUS an extravagant honeymoon.

kanipark says:

i might have to kick some bootie.

Elle Brown says:

I also would be furious. The idea is funny in a movie but in real life it’s very sad.
