Open Question: Spanx

August 28th, 2006 @ 10:19 am by Mrs. Bee

I would like to know if anyone has used Spanx Body Shapers. Are they as good as people say? I want to purchase it but I am not sure if it is worth the $68!

Thanks!
Lynn

Hey there - my aunt recently purchased spanx for her role as maid of honor in her friend’s wedding. Just yesterday she was RAVING about how fabulous they are. She said they’re very comfortable and, from what I’ve seen, they do a fabulous job of smoothing out any less than exciting bumps. I’m thinking of buying a pair for my wedding, as well. Hope this helps :-)

I got mine at nordstrom’s during a storewide sale for 40 bucks.
It was ALL I wore under my dress.
My seamstress sowed “pads” so I didn’t need a bra. The Spanx took INCHES off my waist and my petticoat slipped over it - no problem.

ALL my bridesmaids wore the spanx as well. I still use it under dresses for special events/occasions.

you might want to also check out the “spanx” at target. the designer/creator (Sara Blakely) makes ASSETS which is practically the same thing for target and way cheaper- $10-15. maybe the way to go if only need minimal shaping & smoothing as i am sure the Spanx might have more “slimming power” - esp if you are paying that much more.

if you’re weary of spending $68, Spanx has another version called Assets and it’s sold at Target. That’s where I got mine for $15.

Yes they are worth it- find them cheap on eBay or QVC- the original ones are great ($25), but the high waisted ones have an annoying seam in the middle that shows through with any thin fabric you are wearing. So if you want the high waisted ones, I suggest Lipo in a Box ones- around $40 and really comfortable.
