Spanx me Baby!~

August 28th, 2006 @ 5:06 pm by Mrs. Orchid

Almost everywhere I turn everyone is raving about Spanx. I’m considering going out and getting myself Spanx-ed out as well. As a not so thin girl, I need all the help I can get! From what I hear it’s supposed to hold everything in place, give you ultra clean lines under your gown (no unsightly pantylines) and give you some nice lift and contour just in the right places.

My current dilemma is which Spanx should I get. My choice of wedding gown has a pretty low back, so I’m not sure a bodysuit would work for me. Although, I would love to be able to wear something that helps me with the tummy area as well. Any of you Spanxed out ladies have any suggestions on which Spanx us ladies wearing low back/backless gowns should look into?

If you’re looking for undergarment for your wedding dress, then spanx won’t work. They don’t have one that’ll not be visible with your dress style. You should just get a corset that has a low back. Spanx is really good for cocktail dresses though. It really holds everything in.

Thats a beautiful gown! Alvina Valenta, right?

If you don’t mind, can you tell me how much you got that dress for? I’m looking at something from the same line, but wanted to know the price range. Thanks!

I recognize that gown! One my favorite lines, Alvina Valenta! So gorgeous. I haven’t started my gown shopping, but I would love to get an AV gown … yay for you. You must look beautiful in it :-).

I love love Spanx. I have the first one- helps keep my tummy in (and no underwear!). It’s pretty high in the back though so I don’t think it would work with your dress.

My mom has drilled the art of the proper foundation into my head over the past 30 years. I think you’d be best with a combo with your gown. A corset with a low cut back to provide lift for the chest and support for the tummy area. Then pair it with spanx shorts - or another brad - that can be worn low, that will smooth out the hip/tigh area. If you are doing a garter toss, check out how low they go - you don’t want to offer anyone a view of your support.

I bought Spanx for under my bridal gown and was, frankly, under whelmed. I found the Spanx too thick (now what you want in a garment that is supposed to slim) and not very powerful. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I don’t think it lived up to the hype.

I have Spanx panties and shorts.

I HATE the Spanx panties. They are uncomfortable and keep riding up my @$$. The Spanx paties are an utter waste of money! I do NOT recommend the panties.

The shorts are a good investment. They do sometimes roll and fold in the waist area. But overall, I they work great.

IMHO Spanx is hyped up too much. They do not quite meet the expectations of that hype.

For all of you that does not like Spanx… Get Over It! I am a chunk woman (in all the good places) however, I am 5′0 and 187lbs. As, I have aged, I realized that I cannot loose weight as I would like to and I have a lump and a bump here and there but nevertheless, Spanx Footless Bodyshaping panyhose is FANTABALOAUS, no more lumps with out using those other uncomfortable bodysuits that will leave a pantyline. If they are rolling and all that, BUY YOUR SIZE. Spanz have a reason to have all the hype. I am the woman who is not a size 2 screaming, if I were smaller maybe they would work. MY TWO CENTS AND I AM SHARING IT@

I LOVE SPANX! i wore it when i was a BM at my friend’s wedding and let me tell you that I would’ve popped out of my dress if it wasn’t for Spanx. Our dresses came in a lot smaller than we thought and had to let them all out. 2 of the other BMs busted their dresses. I will re-iterate…I LOVE SPANX! I will be sporting it at my own wedding~
