There were many imposters but 23 year old Jeong-Hyun Lim, a self-taught guitarist, has officially been confirmed as the man behind the now legendary rendition of Canon in D. When asked why didn’t show his face on the video, he replied:
“Main purpose of my recording is to hear the other’s suggestions about my playing.” He added, “I think play is more significant than appearance. Therefore I want the others to focus on my fingering and sound. Furthermore I know I’m not that handsome.”
Awwww sounds like a nice guy. That totally rocks. Check out his Canon in D one more time.

i read the article and it says Jerry C was the one who came up with song and Lim heard it and practiced it. unless i read it wrong?
yah you’re right - Jerry C wrote the song, but he can’t play it like Lim.
According to the NY Times article, Lim is in Korea. I guess it would be very expensive to fly him to the States.
When you mentioned imposters, I thought JerryC was one and FunTwo was the original. But the NYTimes article says otherwise. Wouldn’t it be appropriate to mention JerryC in this post since he is the original composer of this rendition… to avoid confusion? Just my two cents.
unless i understand wrongly mrs.bee was refering to the ppl that posed as funtwo….thats y she said imposters….
pachebal was the composer, jerryc rearranged it… funtwo played it after he saw jerry’s vid, using the backtrack and tabs from jerry’s website… i enjoyed funtwo’s video and the fact that he made the effort to put in pachebal and jerryc in the opening credits. that alone tells me he’s not tryin to ripoff someone else…
funtwo added his own stuff into the song and it’s just amazing, i won’t say who’s the best or who suck, I just like funtwo’s version more…..

I think both JerryC and funtwo are incredible, but i do prefer funtwo’s performance over JerryC’s. Thats no insult to JerryC because i know that he arranged it in the first place and did an absolutly incredible job at it, but i just think that funtwo’s realisation is better.
