you know what……..

I ordered the dress from them a few months ago for my wedding next year in August. You know what, I just found out about this that they are closing today and I found out from this website, not from them. Isn’t it ridculous!

I hope I am going to get my deposit back!

I ordered a dress from the Gown Company last year and when I picked it up, it had been used! The owner did not refund my money nor did she ever order a new dress for me. I am taking her to court and suggest anyone else who has been defrauded by her to do the same.

There is nobody named Josie who ordered a gown from The Gown Company and there is NOBODY who ordered a gown and didn’t get it. Nancy ordered a gown and got it in perfect condition. When her wedding was cancelled she asked us to sell it off-the-rack in our sample room. Several months later when she decided she wanted to get more than we had agreed she would get for having us sell it, she decided to take it back and “discovered” that … uh … it appeared to have been tried on !! ?? (can you sell a sample gown without letting anyone try it on ??). In the end what Nancy really wanted was a full refund for her gown since with no wedding she had no use for it. (refunds are expressly forbidden by the purchase agreement she signed). Her gown was still in excellent condition. The whole “it had been used” thing is a ruse. She DID take me to court but did not show up for our scheduled court date. She will lose her case when and if she does show up.

Follow up. Nancy lost her case. In his ruling the judge articulated the merits of my position in great detail. Nancy sought a full refund of $2400, but the judge saw through her lies and ordered only that I pay her $150 for drycleaning.

I ordered a dress in August and also was not told they were closing. I only found out b/c the number was out of service when I called in December, so I called the store next door to see if they were still open (which they were not).

I have made multiple attempts to get in touch with Paula and she never returns my messages or phone calls. I dont think she even put my order in to Lazaro…. Paula, since you previously responded to this site, I’m hoping you will call me and let me know what is going on with my order.

If it was ordered, Paula, return my phone call and give me my purchase order # so I can track it myself with Lazaro. Also, the lady at Lazaro I’ve been speaking to says she can’t get in touch with you either. Thank you.

Paula - On top of being unscrupulous, you have now resorted to lying…? You will recall that you were the one who did not show up for the first hearing and the judge threatend to rule in my favor if you missed the second hearing date. During the second hearing, you offered to “settle” with me and pay $300 to which I wanted to laugh! The judge asked you to increase your offer to $700 since during our previous discussions, you had offered to pay me $1100 for the used dress. Perhaps you should re-read the judgement notification since it clearly states that the rulining was in favor of the plaintiff, me. It further states that you are to pay $150 AND return the dress. So where is the dress? You had 30 days to make good on the judgement. On top of being a now defunct businessowner, do you also want to be in contempt of court? A refund of the money was never my motivation - the issue has always been either give me the dress I bought - a new dress - or return my money. You have not honored either one. As you seem to find the time to defend yourself on this website, perhaps you should also find time to dry clean my dress, have it delivered to me with $150 pinned to the dress. That will get me off your back. I otherwise have to continue my efforts to collect on my legal judgement.
