About Miss Sunflower

Hello, Members of the Hive!

August 31st, 2006 @ 3:31 pm by Miss Sunflower

I am SO happy to be a new member of the Wedding Bee team! Thanks Mrs. Bee :). My name is Gina (aka Miss Sunflower) and my fiance’s name is David - we’ll be married in April 2008. I’ve been consulting weddingbee for weeks now b/c of the wealth of information available, and have gotten so many fabulous ideas. It has inspired me to share the details of my planning process and hopefully provide some helpful information to other newly engaged couples.

We’re having our reception at Jericho Terrace. Anyone can tell you that I’ve been obsessed with this establishment for the past three years. Everytime we drove past, I would gaze at it lovingly and dream. After the initial bliss of our engagement, we decided to get moving on the process of reserving a venue for the reception. I’m not ashamed to say that the Jericho Terrace is the first and last place we went. It’s fabulous. Absolutely fabulous. Now comes the journey of finding everything else - entertainment, photographer/videographer, florist…and making sure that we don’t go bankrupt in the process!

Anyway, that’s about it for now. Thanks again, Mrs. Bee, and happy posting!

Congratulations and your venue does look beautiful! I was interested in the fact that your wedding is in April 2008 — I’m planning mine for May 2008 and I always think it’s too far ahead to really book anything, but maybe I should go ahead : )

I agree with luckyme, I haven’t even started thinking of planning yet because the wedding will be in Feb 2008… maybe I should start ?!?

Welcome! My sister lives right near Jericho Terrace. Every time we drive by it, I stare and wonder what it looks like in there. Happy planning!

I honestly didn’t think it was too far ahead - our wedding is 18 months away. The first thing I wanted to get out of the way was the venue and the church. The manager of JT was actually SHOCKED that he had our date available, even though it’s a year and a half away. Now that it’s out of the way, I feel like a weight has been lifted. We have time to pay for the venue itself and we’re not in a HUGE rush for everything else.

Welcome Miss Sunflower! Your reception site looks beautiful!! And I must say that I was so excited to see that you’re an SLP!! I’m not one yet… hopefully one day though (I majored in it in undergrad. and am *hoping* to go to grad. school next year… had to take some time off to help my family)… how fun! :) Anyway, congratulations on your engagement!!

Miss Sunflower says:

Thank you, Natalie! Let me tell you, becoming an SLP was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I absolutely love it with all of my heart!

And thanks for all the compliments on Jericho Terrace - the place really is so beautiful and the food is fabulous, too :-)

I went to a beautiful wedding there last year, they got married under a gazebo on this podium thing right on the water. I think they booked the best part of the venue since there were other weddings going on at the same time. Congrats on booking such a nice venue.
