Slimming Cameras

August 31st, 2006 @ 10:08 am by Mrs. Bee

Earlier this year, Hewlett Packard introduced digital cameras with a “slimming feature” that takes 10-15 pounds off the subject in the photo.

If these cameras provided professional quality photographs, would you use the slimming feature for your wedding photographs?

I think she looks healthier and better WITHOUT the slimming effect! Or maybe that’s just me- I’ve always admired curvier figures since I grew up with such a boyish one…

This effect can be done during post processing anyways. And I think the subject will not look any slimmer when there are objects/other people as reference. When everyone in a photo looks slimmer, you’ll look the same size as you normally are.

The girl in that picture does not need slimming effect, in the first place she’s already skinny. The slimming effect works well for those who are chubby and big like myself. I wouldn’t mind having my wedding pics using the slimming effect. Why didn’t they invent it back then….

She looks fine the way she is!

Also, you can already do stuff like that in photoshop (just adjust the height or width a few pixels and you can be taller, thinner, shorter, wider, whatever).

wow… the things people come up with… of course it’s cool… but, i wouldn’t use it…

plus it’s not like you only take pictures of yourself…

Ugh that’s so…weird! I wouldn’t want it for my wedding photos, but I suppose I could understand how others might. Still seems odd to me, though.

now, if they came up with a camera that would make me look skinnier but leave everyone around me normal, that I would use - what’s the point of being skinnier if in comparison to everyone next to you, you’re still bigger?

ummm what happens if you take a picture of a really skinny person? Do they disappear?

I think all that does is zoom out…

She looks squished…

You know - you can do that with a simply graphic program or even paint program - just take the picture, and push the sides together slightly to “slim” the image.

Personally, I like the original better.

Maybe for regular photos…but not for my wedding pictures.

I think the model looks much better and healthier without the slimming effect. Not that I could tell a huge difference anyway. I think society in general has an unhealthy obsession with being slim to the point that it doesn’t look good at all.
