Sparkle Plenty

August 31st, 2006 @ 9:29 am by Mrs. Caterpillar

In my mad scramble to make crafts, find a new makeup person, and see Mr. Caterpillar off to his first week of school, I seem to have forgotten to find a brooch for my dress.

I kind of love this one from Doyle & Doyle.

I should probably go with something less goth and less than a thousand dollars. Any suggestions?

I hate to be the first comment with the most obvious answer . . . ebay.

I got my brooch on ebay, an authentic vintage costume piece, and I LOVE it. So it’s not real gold and pearls, but it’s vintage and it was under $50.

P.S. LOVE the brooch you posted. At first I didn’t like mine when I saw the brooches in the bridal stores (huge, sparkly and silver), but it’s a bit different, which I’ve come to accept. ; )

ben-amun has some nice ones on their website, and I think I remember reading somewhere that Doyle & Doyle will rent their jewelry?

Just want to say that I enjoy reading your entries and all the neat websites you’ve introduced. You have quite an eclectic taste and a warp sense of humor. I’m also fond of old handkerchiefs and objects that look vintage and shabby chic, and I’ve bookmarked baybarrycove for inspirations when I plan my reception. Although I could just hear my fiance saying something like, they are just shabby not chic.

Have you tried rubylane.com for brooches? Also, dollsandlace.com if you still need antique ribbon.

Juniper Designs might have something, or be able to make you a custom piece; I love their keyhole necklaces, and the symbolism is great for weddings. http://www.juniper-designs.net/
