Lanterns With a Twist!

September 5th, 2006 @ 10:12 am by Mrs. Lily

I am a bad, bad flower. This past weekend I went to a wedding in Chicago, but sadly I was enjoying the wedding festivities so much that I took very few photos. What’s wrong with me???

I did, however, manage to take a few snaps of these AWESOME lanterns. These puppies were huge and dotted all along the gardens of my friend’s family home. Talk about gorgeous! This is an easy idea for any wedding!!!

Was it windy? How did they get the delicate paper lanterns to stay put? (There are usually holes on both sides) And did they line the insides with some kind of flame retardant spray? Or did they use LED lights inside? Or…?

They’re beautiful, but I just can’t figure out how they made it work!

MISS ANT– I know, cool, huh? It wasn’t really windy, but I think they were big enough that they just stayed put. Also, because they had LED lights inside (to answer your 2nd question), I don’t think there were holes on either side. Also, they had metal wires in them that seemed to kind of keep them propped open. :-)

I LOVE this idea and I live in Chicago. Do you know where your friend purchased the giant lanterns?
