Open Question: Which Dress

September 6th, 2006 @ 9:36 am by Open Question

Hi Mrs. Bee,

I have a major dilemma with my wedding dress - I already have a dress ordered but I fell in love with two other dresses. The problem is that the two other dresses are very similar and now I am debating between them.

My sister (MOH), my best friend, and I all are undecisive about which one we like better. We love both dresses.

Dress A - Style 8265

Dress B - Style 8365

The dresses themselves are VERY similar except that Dress B has more beading. The fabrics are different too - Dress A is a taffeta like material, while dress B is organza like.

On a side note my wedding is next summer in July. The pictures are not that great because we weren’t allowed to take pictures, but our consultant at RK Bridal let us “sneak some in.”

Thank you,
glass

They are really so similar- I’d stick with the one you already ordered and save your $ to spend on something else. I don’t think you will look back in 20 years and say “I wish I’d had the other dress” they are both beautiful.

I agree with Amanda; I think they’re too similar to justify buying the second one at this point. Have you tried going back to try on samples of the dress you ordered (if it’s not in yet)? I would try that and hopefully you’ll remember why you fell in love with it in the first place! Good luck!

I think there might be a lil confusion regarding my “first dress that’s ordered” and this “second dress that i fell in love with”. The first dress is NOT dress A. It is a totally different one, different manufacturer, totally different style. My second dress would be considered “Dress A/B”.

The first one’s skirt looks to wrinkled.

the first one gives you a more defined waistline. they are both beautiful! but yea, what about the one you already ordered?

I’m still confused about which one you actually ordered…but they really are so similar, I don’t think you’d regret whichever you go with. Stick with the one you already ordered…if nothing else, it’s a bit less hassle.

can you:

a) model pix side by side
b) your pix underneath, also side by side

thanks! makes it easier to compare.

I like the simplicity & elegance of the beading on Dress A, but I like the organza in Dress B! Overall thought, I vote for Dress A (hope this is the one you’ve already ordered!)

There’s literally nothing in it. The only significant difference in my eyes is not the beading (both equally pretty but not necessarily altering the overall effect) but the fabric of the skirt. As the skirts are so heavily adorned, I think the taffeta is sufficient to create the weight required for the pleating. The organza adds just another level of frou frou that I think smacks of ‘one effect too much’. That’s my little opinion…

whoa wait - which dress did you fall in love with?

you ordered a dress.
then fell in love with dress A AND dress B?
so you def. want to get another dress and it’s between A and B. right?

all that said, i like the first one more. the beading is more stylized and figure flattering.

i was confused too at first - glad i waited to comment.

if you are DEFinitely going with a second dress and are choosing between dress A and B, i would go with dress A. i like the beading better, its not over the top and better defines your waistline (as miss spider said, figure flattering.) the organza looks a bit light and airy for the heavy beading of the top compared to the taffeta which i think brings an elegant weight to dress A. my 2 cents~~

Sorry about the confusion with the question! Ok now that we have that cleared up… if you’re going to buy a second dress, I like Dress A better - I think the beading and taffeta work better and will definitely make you look slimmer. Good luck with your decision!

You have an amazing figure and both dresses look great on you. I bet you that Dress #1 looks fabulous on you too. But if you’re really set on getting a 2nd dress and you have the budget for it, then I have to say that I vote for Dress A. The beading is more pleasing (not as busy, yet still elaborate enough for a regal look) and the cut is more flattering!

i like dress A a lot more. the beading makes it really classy and elegant and more unique. the second dress looks like a typical wedding dress to me.

I don’t know if you look slimmer in dress B because of the angle the picture was taken. However, I do agree with everyone else that dress A does look more elegant. I can understand why you can’t decide though. As a reader/voter, even I can’t decide! =P Good luck!
