Open Question: Which Dress

September 6th, 2006 @ 9:36 am by Open Question

Hi Mrs. Bee,

I have a major dilemma with my wedding dress - I already have a dress ordered but I fell in love with two other dresses. The problem is that the two other dresses are very similar and now I am debating between them.

My sister (MOH), my best friend, and I all are undecisive about which one we like better. We love both dresses.

Dress A - Style 8265

Dress B - Style 8365

The dresses themselves are VERY similar except that Dress B has more beading. The fabrics are different too - Dress A is a taffeta like material, while dress B is organza like.

On a side note my wedding is next summer in July. The pictures are not that great because we weren’t allowed to take pictures, but our consultant at RK Bridal let us “sneak some in.”

Thank you,
glass

Weddingbee readers! Please help me choose. Your opinions are greatly appreciated!

Amanda says:

They are really so similar- I’d stick with the one you already ordered and save your $ to spend on something else. I don’t think you will look back in 20 years and say “I wish I’d had the other dress” they are both beautiful.

3.
Miss Bluebell says:

I agree with Amanda; I think they’re too similar to justify buying the second one at this point. Have you tried going back to try on samples of the dress you ordered (if it’s not in yet)? I would try that and hopefully you’ll remember why you fell in love with it in the first place! Good luck!

I think there might be a lil confusion regarding my “first dress that’s ordered” and this “second dress that i fell in love with”. The first dress is NOT dress A. It is a totally different one, different manufacturer, totally different style. My second dress would be considered “Dress A/B”.

Tristan says:

The first one’s skirt looks to wrinkled.

ega says:

the first one gives you a more defined waistline. they are both beautiful! but yea, what about the one you already ordered?

7.
Katie says:

I’m still confused about which one you actually ordered…but they really are so similar, I don’t think you’d regret whichever you go with. Stick with the one you already ordered…if nothing else, it’s a bit less hassle.

can you:

a) model pix side by side
b) your pix underneath, also side by side

thanks! makes it easier to compare.

I like the simplicity & elegance of the beading on Dress A, but I like the organza in Dress B! Overall thought, I vote for Dress A (hope this is the one you’ve already ordered!)

Helen says:

There’s literally nothing in it. The only significant difference in my eyes is not the beading (both equally pretty but not necessarily altering the overall effect) but the fabric of the skirt. As the skirts are so heavily adorned, I think the taffeta is sufficient to create the weight required for the pleating. The organza adds just another level of frou frou that I think smacks of ‘one effect too much’. That’s my little opinion…

Miss Spider says:

whoa wait - which dress did you fall in love with?

you ordered a dress.
then fell in love with dress A AND dress B?
so you def. want to get another dress and it’s between A and B. right?

all that said, i like the first one more. the beading is more stylized and figure flattering.

12.
ck says:

i was confused too at first - glad i waited to comment.

if you are DEFinitely going with a second dress and are choosing between dress A and B, i would go with dress A. i like the beading better, its not over the top and better defines your waistline (as miss spider said, figure flattering.) the organza looks a bit light and airy for the heavy beading of the top compared to the taffeta which i think brings an elegant weight to dress A. my 2 cents~~

Mrs. Bee says:

Sorry about the confusion with the question! Ok now that we have that cleared up… if you’re going to buy a second dress, I like Dress A better - I think the beading and taffeta work better and will definitely make you look slimmer. Good luck with your decision!

Miss Ant says:

You have an amazing figure and both dresses look great on you. I bet you that Dress #1 looks fabulous on you too. But if you’re really set on getting a 2nd dress and you have the budget for it, then I have to say that I vote for Dress A. The beading is more pleasing (not as busy, yet still elaborate enough for a regal look) and the cut is more flattering!

15.
peachy says:

i pick dress A, too. the beading is so much more elegant and definitely makes you look great.

16.
kanipark says:

looking at the pictures i liked B… but looking at how the dress fits on you, i chose A… more simple & elegant :)

17.
jesse says:

the second dress makes you look skinnier!!!!

18.
weddingwishes says:

i like dress A a lot more. the beading makes it really classy and elegant and more unique. the second dress looks like a typical wedding dress to me.

19.
L says:

I don’t know if you look slimmer in dress B because of the angle the picture was taken. However, I do agree with everyone else that dress A does look more elegant. I can understand why you can’t decide though. As a reader/voter, even I can’t decide! =P Good luck!

Thao says:

I really like the material and beading of Dress A. It looks much more classy/elegant.

21.
ANn says:

Dress A’s bead work on with the V-shape should give you the illusion of a slimmer waistline and from what I see in the picture, it does despite the fact that you are standing in a slimming position in Dress B. On the other hand, I love organza since it is so light and airy looking. But overall I think you look fabulous in both, but fabulous-er in Dress A.

22.
GeLLiBeLLy says:

i say A. the beading is much more figure flattering and tasteful. and taffeta probably looks better with that style.

23.
Mrs. Cat says:

you have choice C that say neither. The dress looks like a cake topping.

24.
JL says:

ok now i know my dress is losing…but i like the bodice on dress B so much more than A.

25.
Katie says:

Mrs. Cat–Pardon me, but I think that’s EXCEPTIONALLY rude. She looks fabulous in both dresses and even if it’s not your taste, you should respect hers.

If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all–the last thing you want to do is make a bride feel bad about her wedding dress!

Get a life and stop picking on other people, or stick around and play nice.

26.
sandy says:

I kinda agree with mrs. cat, but I don’t mean to be rude about it. I think that whipped cream style skirt has been overly done. but that’s just my opinion. go with what you love.

glass says:

Thank you ALL for your opinions! There was a big confusion about which dress was what but i think it was all figured out.
I did buy a dress (on a major impulse) and got myself in trouble when i went dress looking and found another dress(es) that i liked. I’m probably going to sell the dress that’s already ordered.
The winner seems to be Dress A. Once again, thank you for your inputs. And it doesn’t matter if it looks like cake topping. As long as i love it…

Mrs. Bee says:

glass, i think dress a is beautiful on you, and judging from the pictures, it photographs well too! all that matters is that you love it… i think you’ll look stunning on your wedding day no matter which dress you choose. :)

Monkee says:

HEllo! Although both dresses are mighty similar lookin’, I vote for dress A. I think the beading here and there flows better with the skirt - compared to the second one. You should post a pic of the one that you already ordered (since it’s completely different from dresses A and B above)… that way, it’ll be easier to see (I think) which one ppl vote for…

hm says:

i pick dress a! it definitely makes you look curvier and it is also slimming (how can it do both? must be a *magical* dress)

thanks to rk bridal for letting you sneak pictures for all of us — that was awesome!

Dress A! It’s beautiful on you.
