It’s a Nice Day for a White Wedding

September 7th, 2006 @ 7:45 pm by Mrs. Orchid

My fiance and I are going down to City Hall this month to officially get married. Since this year is an auspicious and lucky year to get married, we thought it would be a good thing to do. For the wedding that I am planning for next year, I’m not going to have an officiant as we are already going to have TWO cultural ceremonies. That in itself it going to be a hella long day!

We both thought it would be a good idea to get married on the same date as our ceremony/reception of next year - that being September 29th. Lucky us that this year it lands on a weekday and we can go down to City Hall to have our civil ceremony. Something small and simple, with just our parents, and a few good friends as witnesses. And afterwards we will go have small dinner celebration. heart2.gif

I’ll be doing my own hair & make up, just something simple. And as for the dress? I’ve purchased this one to wear for the Civil ceremony. I think it’s very romantic looking, and it makes me think of when Kelly married Zack on Saved By the Bell. Okay okay, her dress was different, but I don’t know why it makes me think of that. The fiance will wearing a shirt that matches the sash on the dress and a suit.

I bookmarked that dress on Nordstrom a few weeks back because I fell in love with it - I was planning on buying it to change into for the cake cutting.. But then I found another dress that I liked a little more. Good choice!

My brother had a civil ceremony then a wedding a couple of months later. You’re lucky that you can get married on your actual wedding day. And that dress is beautiful! :)

You can find this dress on the Nordstrom website. At $178 with $5 shipping is not bad at all for a wedding dress! :)

Hi! I am getting married abroad and need to get married in a “civil ceremony” in the States. We are going to the courthouse in San Fran for a civil ceremony in 3 weeks. What can I expect? The website says it’s about a 10 minute ceremony. Do we say vows? Exchange rings? Do I need to prepare? Please help! Thanks!!!! BTW: Awesome dress!

Hi! The dress is GORGEOUS!!
The FI and I are planning on doing a civil ceremony too before our wedding a year away. How long was the civil ceremony? Did they allow for your family and friends to take part in it? Do people typically get dressed up for it?

Sorry about ALL the questions!
