New Characters

September 7th, 2006 @ 8:24 pm by Mrs. Bee

Hi everyone!

I’m about to ask our artist to create a new batch of characters, and thought we’d do something different than bugs and flowers. Once all our bugs are married, we’ll probably return to bugs again, then flowers, and so on. Will we ever run out of characters? I hope not because we’d been planning on making new ones up like lovebug, heartflower, etc. - the possibilities are endless.

I’d thought about using birds because of the “birds and the bees,” but birds actually eat bugs! Bugs and flowers make sense because they work together in pollination. Then I considered doing leaves/plants like maple, fern, poison ivy? :)

But you guys always have the best suggestions so what do you think should be the theme for our next batch of characters?

What about trees? I thought about food but bugs eat food so that wouldn’t work. I like the leaf idea as well.

it doesn’t really fit the theme you’re going with, but what about gemstones? or colors? [although i don't know how you'd illustrate those] there are quite a few of them, so they might work. i think birds would be fine–not all birds eat bugs. i think the plant idea will also work very well.

How about birthstones… I just thought it’d be nice. If not, I like the birds… Even though they eat bugs, they help pollenate flowers which help bugs or more importantly bees…

i love the gems idea. the only thing i see as a con for leaves and such is the lack of color. color is what helps make the icons catchy and fun.

How about fruits? Bugs pollinate flowers that become fruit. Miss. Peach, Apple, Orange, Strawberry etc…

i would say stay in the nature theme. i think your current characters work b/c the names are on the simple side. miss brown spotted red breasted hen doesn’t sound as cute.

that being said, i think “the birds and the bees, the flowers and the trees” would work best. my vote is to move into leaves/trees (miss oak, miss maple…) and then birds (miss hummingbird, miss robin, miss sparrow…) by then you can hopefully rotate =)

Miss Bluebell

Plants and fruits are my favorites, then birds I think!

Also: is it sad that my first thought was - “Nooo, I want to be Miss Bluebell forever! :-( ” ? Hehe.

Ohhhh nooooo please don’t recycle the current names! Can’t they just blog forever even after they’re married? Like Mrs. Bee does! It would be sort of odd to find out that the people you grew to know and love by their character names have been replaced. I mean, I guess once we get to know the new bloggers, it’ll be better… but still! :starts throwing a fit:

Mrs. Bee, you should make a poll! :) I love the fruits idea! sigh* I wish I lived in NY, so I could be a Weddingbee. But alas…I’m stuck in San Fransisco and Los Angeles [hint*hint* Please launch a Weddingbee around here!! We could call it Weddingsea and have a sea creatures theme since California is known for its sunny, albiet gross, beaches.] :D
