Most Romantic Entry 5

September 8th, 2006 @ 10:00 am by Mrs. Bee

My story isn’t exactly romantic, but it shows how much my fiance cared about us and how he took care of me…

It was our first date, and it was his law school formal at the Double Tree in Philly . It was downtown, so he offered to get a hotel room for us to spend the night so neither of us had to worry about drinking and driving back to the suburbs. As we drove to the formal, I expressed to him that it made me kinda uncomfortable to spend the night with him, and planned on taking a cab home. Although we had been friends for a while, I wasn’t really into him and was worried that he might try a move on me.

After he parked the car, he opened up the trunk and inside was a large sleeping bag and a duffel bag. I asked him what the sleeping bag was for and he said, “I’d rather you not go home alone, so you can have the bed, and I’ll sleep on the floor.” I thought that was a nice gesture, so I agreed to stay the night, but I had no clothes to change into!

We checked into our hotel room and he started to unpack, and made two piles on the bed. One for him (his clothes for later, for the next morning, toothbrush etc), and one for me (oversized flannel pj pants, tshirt, and my very own toothbrush). I thought it was extremely thoughtful of him to think of all that. Then he started to pull out two wine glasses and two bottles of wine.

Before the formal, we sat and talked while drinking some pinot noir, looking out the window into the city. When the night was over, I did end up staying the night, and he didn’t sleep on the floor. Instead, he laid next to me and held me while I slept. We still hadn’t shared a kiss, but somewhere, sometime that night, I fell for him. Maybe it was while we danced and he sang in my ear, or maybe it was while he danced like Napolean Dynamite with pure abandon…

A few nights later, I was having a rough day at school, so he offered to come by and help me unwind with a movie. I didn’t know what kind of movie I wanted to see, so he said he’d bring them over. He came to my dorm room with a big black bag. He borrowed his roommate’s playstation so he could play the dvds, brought an adapter for my ancient TV, and brought about 25 different dvds and vhs tapes for me to choose from. After all that effort, all I could do was give him his first kiss.

After almost 3 years, he’s still just as thoughtful and does little things throughout the week that makes me smile and be so thankful he’s all mine.
