Slippers!!

September 8th, 2006 @ 8:33 am by Mrs. Butterfly

First, I apologize for my lack of updates. Work has been absolutely crazy for the last month or so… :(

On to the post! Mr. Butterfly and I were in Chinatown this week, and I realized that I could get great deals on slippers there. Originally I didn’t want to buy the Chinese slippers that were popular last year because I never really thought they were much of a fashion statement. However, after exploring all my options, Chinese slippers became my only options due to price.

We all know how much weddings cost, and at this point with only about 2 months to go, I really have to watch my budget. With about 95 guests, and assuming that half of them will be women, I figured 30 slippers would be plenty. Lemme tell you - 30 slippers is not that cheap if you are thinking of spending $5 per pair. In Chinatown, however, everything is up for bargaining. And that’s exactly what I did.

The guy wanted to charge me $3 per pair. $3 x 30 pairs = $90 buckaroos. That’s expensive!! So I managed to bargain him down to $70. That comes out to about $2.33 per pair! What a deal!!!

This is a picture of all the slippers after I arranged them into the beautiful baskets from Target that I ordered a while back.

I know I dont have any blue in my color scheme, but it was the most “neutral” color besides white and black. They didn’t have enough whites and blacks in the sizes that I wanted. In that basket, I have:

3 - size 5 slippers
7 - size 6 slippers
10 - size 7 slippers
10 - size 8 slippers

Now my only problem is to figure out a place to put the slippers in my venue so that people will see it and use it!

I’m guessing the slippers are for the dance floor. to make sure nobody lets their feet get too tired in their heels that they call it quits too early.

That’s what I’m guessing anyways.
And if that’s right I think that’s very thoughtful for your guests… and smart! :-)

Either by the dance floor with a sign - maybe you could even get a little table for it. Or even in the bathroom - all the ladies are sure to make a trip in there! :)

A friend did this last summer. She had them in the ladies room but then her day of coordinator also brought them to guests during the reception.

having them a little big or small is ok. there’s no backs afterall .

What about your chicks with big hooves? I know I have big feet, but perhaps they are only for people who need them? :)
