Movie: In Her Shoes

September 9th, 2006 @ 4:05 pm by Mrs. Ladybug

A few weeks ago I saw this movie and I really liked it. The movie takes place in PHILLY! Woohoo!

It’s about two sisters, one’s a back stabbing ho, who have nothing in common but their shoe size but they eventually learn to understand one another after meeting their grandmother. At the end of the movie the older sister gets married at this small Jamaican restaurant and the younger sister picks out her dress for her. Maggie (played by Cameron Diaz) who’s the back stabbing ho, is the younger sister who has dyslexia. At the end of the movie, to surprise her sister Rose (who’s played by Toni Collette), she reads a poem by E.E. Cummings. I lost it.

I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
Anywhere i go you go, my dear;
And whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling
I fear no fate
For you are my fate, my sweet
I want no world
For beautiful you are my world, my true
And it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
And this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
I carry it in my heart

I think no matter how much you fight with them and probably hate them, at times there’s nothing like the bond between sisters. Besides the bond between a mother and a child I think it’s the next strongest bond. I don’t even think you can put it in to words. I mean I have 4 and we did a WHOLE LOTTA fightin growing up but I love them and I don’t think I can live without them.

I love this movie! I watched it once a long time ago, but it made me envious of those who have real blood sisters. I’m an only child, which DOES have perks. At least I have some best girlfriends to hang out w/.

i actually read the book long before the movie came out… and didn’t enjoy the movie nearly as much as the book. but i have often wondered what it’s like to have a sister! (since I have a brother…)

I just saw the movie yesterday too… and was sobbing horribly during that scene. If you have a sister that scene hits you the hardest!

I loved this movie. It reminds me so much of my own sister. I was crying like a baby.
