Beehive

September 11th, 2006 @ 11:25 am by Beehive

In today’s beehive:

  • Ashley wants to know if it’s appropriate to buy her fiance a ring as a Christmas present.
  • Kate is looking for an affordable card box to complement her color scheme - eggplant, chocolate brown, and burgundy with gold accents. She’s willing to do some simple diy but would prefer to purchase something. Any suggestions?
  • Yvette needs recommendations for a save the date card site. She wants to include her engagement photo in the card.
  • Autumn is looking for cute knickknack suggestions for gift bags she will give her bridesmaids when she asks them.

I made a really simple card box for a friend’s wedding last month — I bought a $25 plain white card box from Michaels, then decorated it using wide, soft satin ribbon in their wedding colors. I attached ribbon along the edge of the lid of the box with glue dots, and tied a large trailing bow in the front. Really simple, and it looked elegant in the end.

how about:
an eBay birdcage, spray painted antique gold
with paper flowers and butterflies in your colors to accent

kate - i haven’t made or bought any but I think it can be a really simple project. a box, cover it up with some ribbon and that’s it.. think simple and functional =)

ashley - go for it. I gave my fiance a ring (sort of like a promise ring) a few years back and he loves it. i got him a pretty inexpensive titanium band.

Anyone know where i can find cuff bracelets? I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg though…

Ashley says:

Well…I already bought one [just a titanium band, with very little detail] and now I don’t think I can wait until Christmas to give it to him. I really love it, and I want him to have something special to remind him that, even with all the hell we’ve been through together, we’re still together–and that’s what matters.

Yvette–MyGatsby.com has several really great designs. I know everyone on here has trumpeted about them.

However, you’re wanting to include your photo–have you though about going through Shutterfly or another similar photo printing site? They have good quality photos, and they’re really inexpensive.

Hi Ashley & Mrs. Bee,

thanks for your response but I was referring to e-card. (i think that’s what I put on my original email) i stumbled upon one site but I haven’t heard of many others. I am trying to save cost so I would rather send a mass email with our pic uploaded in the form of a postcard. is there such a thing? would you mind posting the question again?

thanks!
Yvette
