In today’s beehive:

  • glass is looking for affordable cuff bracelets.
  • Yvette is looking to send out photo engagement announcements/save the dates in a postcard style via email. Do you have any site recommendations?

Yvette — we did email save-the-dates for our wedding, which I did up myself in PowerPoint, saved as a .jpg, and inserted it into an email. Here’s what it looked like:

That may not answer your question, but it’s an easy DIY option!

hello! i am wondering if anyone knows about wedding planners, how to find one, how to tell if they are good, and if they add value?

You can find a ton on the knot listed or other sites. I would say interview them and talk to past clients. I think with a planner, its more about the connection.

In terms of value, it depends, if you have the time and patience to plan your own wedding, then I would only recommend a planner for the day of. That is what I am do, and I am a wedding planner. I am actually just starting out and right now doing weddings free of charge to get some more experience.

If you have a busy job, and just a lot of things, then a planner is helpful to do the heavy lifting of researching (a bulk of planning) and finding vendors. Helping with contracts. You will still need to visit vendors or other things, but going to cake tasting is much easier than finding bakers, getting prices, and booking appointments.

I find that it is about the feel. You want your planner to get your vision for the day. You shouldn’t be scared to talk with them or disagree. You want a good connection.
