Open Question: Open Toed Shoes

September 12th, 2006 @ 1:03 pm by Open Question

In the commentary for the movie “Just Married”, Brittany Murphy says that her character wore open-toed shoes at her wedding and that in real life she wouldn’t have done so, because it’s a faux-pas. Have you ever heard that before?

the above comments are funny. yea…i don’t know if britney murphy is the best source to be getting fashion advice from…

i’ve never heard that your shoes shoudl be closed toed. that being said, i wouldn’t wear open toes with stockings on and in the dead of winter =P

on a totally unrelated note, Nike.com for women has some dance and workout videos if anyone is interested:

I guess some people would think that they’re not formal enough for a church wedding…kind of like how some churches ask you to cover your shoulders if you’re wearing a strapless dress. It’s just a matter of respect for the institution and what it represents. Even so, I think you can safely say that it’s an old-fashioned notion and open-toed shoes are widely-accepted these days!

One of my co-workers told me when I got my dress that it is a Russian wedding superstition that the bride can’t wear open-toed shoes. Because all the good blessings would fly out through them. :) I’ve never heard of it before then.

It could be some archaic thing like not wearing white after labor day etc. I wouldn’t worry about it. Especially with how hard it can be to find the perfect wedding shoes!

If I recall correctly, they also spent the night in a mini-cooper stuck in a snow bank, and she slept in her wedding dress…….

Personally, I love open-toed (esp peep-toe!) shoes, and think you should wear whatever makes you happy!!!!!!
