mr bee: can you please tell me when it really is the best time to go and where is the best site to find tickets to mauritius? i never see any deals for that. ever!
the sofitel hotel is really nice…every room has great views of the water and sunsets, as well as direct beach access and the weather was great in october. the only con is the distance. we flew nyc-amsterdam-nairobi (had business there)-mauritius 
it’s literally located in the middle of nowhere.
My one of my closest guy friends is actually from Mauritius. I agree it’s absolutely beautiful but he also let me know that parts of the island are somewhat third world country. It’s best if you stick to the resort areas and really be prepared for a very long flight. Good luck! I think he has said that it’s around $1,000 for the flight (but we live in the midwest so it may be less from where you live!) I hope it works out & I know it’s gorgeous!
