Update

September 14th, 2006 @ 4:20 pm by Mrs. Ladybug

Sometimes when I’m on a roll, I’m on a roll. I can easily write 3-4 entries in one day and then I’ll have writer’s block for a week. So to help me and give me something to do… is there something you ladies want me to research?

you guys should take her up on her offer… she’s great at research! :)

I know that you guys are NYC based, but I’m trying to plan a wedding in Dallas. I’d like to hire a string quartet or trio for the ceremony, but the pricing seems to range from $450 to over $1500. I’m not musically inclined, so how do I know that I’m hiring the right people? What kind of questions should I ask?

I second the budget thing! One specific question, we are thinking about doing an iPod reception. What are the pros and cons?

Where is a good place to find a diagram of how to measure for bridesmaid’s dresses? I want to include one in my bridesmaids newsletter but all the ones I’ve found have been rather blah.

Anyway….i’m getting married in about 18 days..and my dress a St. Pucci strapless drop waist dress…. obviously corsette wont look nice underneath…what can I do instead of a corsette…and the idea of a freaking bodysuit makes me want to barf!

Centerpiece bowls!!! Need cheap bowls that aren’t too low to float candles and flowers in. Found some nice ones from IKEA but they are too low to the table…FI wants them to have a llittle more height without giving up our first born.

Are there any good makeup/hair places in Queens that aren’t too asian-ish? I always feel like asian places seem to like to use pastel colored eyeshadows with liquid liner and light pink lipstick, and hair that’s super done-up, stiff and sparkly. It’s just not for me. Or maybe one who’s willing to travel to Queens but won’t charge an arm and a leg.

I’m always wondering about seat arrangements: in terms of tables and dancefloors. Our reception is in a tent; we have a head table, and about 8 round tables that seat 8 people. Where are we supposed to put the bar and the DJ?

Tristan says:

Aw yes, wedding albums. $60 to fill 5 pages is crazy!

What about creative ideas for gay couples? if they’re starting new traditions or which ones they’re still incorporating into the ceremony.

ideas for favors/colors, and a way to make a chinese baquet for 850 guest stand out, with little personal touchs and not break a bank..

Miss Lily says:

Um, well I know you’ve been doing honeymoon research… Mr. Lily and I are thinking of going to China, so if you feel like doing some homework on that for me, that would be pretty freakin awesome!

26.
Erin says:

How about photos of wedding parties where the bridesmaids all wore completely different dresses? Maybe they are all one color, but they don’t ‘match’. I’m really interested to see what it looks like if they are all wearing different colors though…

pam says:

favor ideas please! we want something non-traditional, something us. the only thing i’ve come up with is tying a bunch of pocky packets together with a pretty ribbon. i can’t think of a suitable container. (or is pocky really cheesy?)

first time poster btw.. thanks for being such a great resource! :)
