Reader Buzz: Favorite Part of Wedding

September 18th, 2006 @ 10:24 am by Mrs. Bee

Mr. Bee and I got back very late last night from a most lovely wedding at Martha’s Vineyard this weekend. After missing the last ferry on Friday due to insane traffic and rain, we finally made it onto the island Saturday morning. A weekend full of activity later, I’m sick :(, but I do have oodles to blog about. :)

The wedding ceremony was beautiful and had many touches that made it personal and unique. When I attend weddings, I must confess that I do scrutinize and love every detail, but the ceremony is by far and away my favorite part of a wedding - the processional, the bride walking down the aisle, the message, the vows, the first kiss… I love it all. It’s the most meaningful part of a wedding and it never fails to choke me up - at least a little.

What is your favorite part of a wedding?

Definitely the ceremony! I love the bride’s entrance, the first kiss and any special songs or personal touches. The best wedding moments are the ones shared between the bride and groom, and those are the ones that make the best stories later!

The ceremony. I heart the FG and RB entrance, the music the couple has chosen, anything that makes it uniquely theirs.

Actually my fave fave part is right after the ceremony when the bride and groom look at each other like, “we did it!”

I love it when the groom has tears in his eyes when he sees his bride for the first time coming down the aisle towards him. Nothing sweeter than that moment.

Definitely the ceremony! I’ve been to some ceremonies where the bride was calmly smiling from ear to ear while the groom was an emotional wreck and started crying. It was so delightfully funny and touching that I was half crying and half smiling myself. And I love the little jokes and mishaps during the ceremony that get the whole audience laughing. haha. Ceremonies are so touching- really the most anticipated and meaningful moment of the entire event.

Funny how 95% of planning is focused on the reception when many of us agree that the ceremony is the most important and most memorable!

i love the missteps in a ceremony. once, the preacher forgot the first kiss and went to present the couple…the groom was quick to ask if he could kiss his new wife and everyone cracked up.

though, my favorite part will always be eating the cake.

The reveal of the bride, her expression and the groom’s expression. What an amazing moment, full of hope and love and joy and promise.

When they say their vows and try to talk even though they’re crying. It makes me cry too!

The toasts - *everyone* cries during the toasts, and it is so wonderful to hear all the beautiful wishes everyone has for the couple!

The ceremony, of course, but I really do love it when the band/dj/emcee announces the bride & groom … “For the first time as Mr. & Mrs. … !!” and then they burst into the party, holding hands, with such JOY, and a release of tension and nerves, and the whole party is still ahead. All the cheering from the guests, and the triumphant look of sheer bliss on the couple’s faces…it’s such an emotional rush that it chokes me up every time. I cannot WAIT for that moment at our wedding next month (as the band plays “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” in the background). I’m tearing up as I think about it now.

I love the ceremony… I always choke on my tears esp when the bride walks down the aisle and the groom full of tears, and when the parents give the couples blessings… I’m teary eyed just thinking about this amazing moment.

yeah, I hate to say it, but the first thought was the food. But romantic-wise, when I see the bride and groom dance together.
