About Mrs. Bee

Weddingbee reader Tankbear sent us a link this morning to one of the most awesome cakes I’ve ever seen in my life - A Super Mario Brothers themed groom’s cake!!! Manolo already blogged about it earlier, but this is too cool not to share because I’m a huuuuuuge fan of Super Mario fan.

Created by Gateaux, Inc. of Plymouth, Minnesota.

Brent, the groom, had this reaction:

HOLY SHIT! I couldn’t believe it. The most amazing cake I’ve ever seen in my life. In fact, the entire thing, except for Mario and the Princess is cake. Even the Piranha Plants are made out of frosting! They even went so far as to add a bouquet to the Princess made out of frosting as well. It was so well done I couldn’t believe it.

What a fantastic surprise for the groom! I had a groom’s cake made as a surprise for Mr. Bee at our rehearsal dinner, and it was a huge hit. It’s a wonderfully thoughtful surprise for your husband-to-bee.

Look at more pictures on Brent’s friend’s flickr site and read more about the cake on Brent’s blog.

I love it!!!! I would actually consider having that as just my wedding cake. Me and Mario go way back^_~ I was even thinking about doing our intro song to the Super Mario Bros. theme song.

Well done! I wanted to do something similar for my husband but couldnt find a Priincess Peach the right size. Whered you find one? Our nicknames for each other are Peach and Bowser. Very nice.

the princess is actually something you can only get from accumulating some sort of credits and they’re not available for purchase.. but the bride was able to buy it off ebay and have it shipped from japan. you can read the details about it in the groom’s blog - the link is above.

Oh my gosh… my boyfriend would LOVE this cake. The only thing that he would love more is if someone made a Sonic the Hedgehog cake.
