Open Question: Bridesave.com

September 25th, 2006 @ 11:36 am by Open Question

Hi, I was wondering if you guys have heard any news about bridesave.com. I ordered a dress from them on July 31, and recently discovered that the payment was never charged to me. Now their toll free number is constantly giving a busy signal, their regular phone number is not being answered, and their website is offline. I don’t know if I am going to get my dress or not. You guys always seem to be able to find out anything wedding related, and I wondered if there was any news, like if they’ve gone out of business or anything. Thanks.

Maggie

Hi Maggie!

I haven’t heard anything, but will definitely look into it!

There’s some posts on the knot about bridesave. They’ve gone out of business… and somewhere is a message board that they set up to help out people who have ordered from them…

There was a rumor on the knot message boards they were closing. If they haven’t processed your payment, I’d start looking at other places to purchase it.

I found this on the knot message boards
============
It’s actually out of business. The authors of the book, Bridal Bargains (who frequently recommended Bridesave), published this:

Bridesave.com, one of the largest internet sellers of bridal apparel, is closing, the authors of the book BRIDAL BARGAINS have learned.

Bridesave.com sent emails to its customers late Friday announcing the closure:

“We regret to inform you that we have closed our business. Since 1999, BrideSave has faithfully served thousands of brides and their wedding parties. We extend our sincerest apology. We cannot fill your order.”

Repeated calls and emails to Bridesave.com’s headquarters were not returned. A notice on Bridesave.com’s web site says the site is “temporarily unavailable” but there is no mention of the closing.

In the email to customers, Bridesave.com provides details about customers orders and directs brides to contact dress manufacturers to obtain their gowns.

Bridesave.com is headquartered in Midland, Texas and was one of the most prolific sellers of bridal apparel online.

Also: two dress discounters in our book, RK Bridal and Pearl’s, have offered to help out stranded brides. Contact these stores directly for info.

We will post info on our message boards as it becomes available,

Alan & Denise Fields

that’s what I was afraid of. At least they never charged us, so we don’t have to worry about getting our money back. I don’t know what I’m going to do about getting the dress though. They were the only ones I could find who had it.

I’ve got a list of online discount bridal shops in my bio, maybe you can find it at one of them.
Good luck!

My email included how just to get my dress, and when I called that number, they said they had the dress and it’d be ready on time, but bridesave had run away with the payment, and I’d have to rebuy my dress from some other retailer.

I just want the money back. The dress is just a dress. It was beautiful, it was cheap, I liked it. But if I don’t get that dress, whatever. I can go shopping again. I just want the cash.

Hey just a suggestion…you can dispute the purchase with paypal, and since it is a secure website they have to give you your money back, and then paypal will go after the company for the money. Another good site that I went to is. http://www.bridalonlinestore.com

I hope I could help!

Bridesave.com went out of business last week. Any orders that you submitted, have been cancelled!

Good luck!

My daughters quinceanera is October twenty eighth, my dress should of been here by now, I was in aw when I read the e-mail that my order was cancelled, but what about crediting the funds back to my credit card! I spoke to Meredith from forever yours who’s the manufacture of the dress, but can not send the dress to me, it has to be shipped to a retail store. She found a place in Bridgeport, but now I have to pay them additional money to get my dess through them. I’m not sure what to do. I’m so disappointed, no one should have to go through this.

Don’t go online and repurchase a dress. Go to an actual store at least you can hunt the owner down. Online you have no options.

Give us a chance. We have been in business for over 28 years now. You can hunt me down. I will even give you my home address. http://www.bestbridalprices.com We are not going anywhere.

Sincerely,

John

Dear John,
You said give you a chance, but you leave no phone number or contact to reach you. What’s that all about? I’ve already purchased a new dress. All I want from bridesave is to credit my visa card $268.10. I’ve already notified my credit card, next step will be the attorney generals office. May God bless all those women who couldn’t get their dresses, I pray that you will get one soon…

Wow. I went looking for the site and was soooo dissapointed. I also like to use http://www.houseofbrides.com (mainly because they were a little bit cheaper than bridesave) but the main draw of the website was the search engine. It was nice to just plug in my color, size, and style and let the site do the hunting for me. *SIGH* I hope that all of you brides who are due refunds and need dresses have happy endings.

They are being sued by a group of bridal stores who are mad about the loss of business internet retailers have taken from them. They were legally forced to close up shop completely. They were an honest company years before the suit.

I know when I got married I looked online but the benefits from buying from an actual store instead from a computer screen were amazing. My friend ordered a dress online and it came with beads falling off and spots on it then she had to pay someone to fix everything, didn’t save her any money.
