About Mrs. Lily

Give me a P! * Give me and O. * Give me an M! ……….

Clearly I’m obessessed… because I can’t stop looking at pomanders! They are so fluffy and bright and make me happy. I want to hang some of these lovelies from the white ceremony chairs and the trees. In my crazy brain, these would be sea-foam green. But seriously, do flowers even come in that color?

Here are some of my faves. Taking a cue from Mrs. Bee, most of these are via Flickr:

I think a carnation pomander would be delightfully fluffy. And they can be dyed any color! And they tend to be inexpensive.

ADRIENNE– thanks for the suggestion! How do you get the carnation pom poms dyed? I love the carnation ones because they almost look like masses of hydrangea when they are grouped together!

are these expensive to have? can you use them as ceremony aisle decor and then re-use them as reception centerpieces by putting them on top of some sort of glass? is this a stupid question?

Miss Lily, remember the grade school science experiment about plants and capillary action (wherein the plants “drink” water)? You just place the carnations in water colored with food coloring. It’s so easy and cheap!! I think it took almost a day for the color to seep into the flowers. This is a great idea!

Jaycee– um, I must have been asleep that day because I don’t remember the grade school flower experiment. I may have to go buy some carnations to try it myself! Thanks!
