Recently I was talking with a friend of mine about how often we say “I love you” to our hubbies. I told her that Mr. Bee and I say it every day, and that it was important for us to do so. She said that that she and her hubby say it every once in while, and that made the times they said it more special.
How often do you and your partner say “I love you,” and how important is it that you say it regularly?
Oh goodness, I say it like all the time. At least 5-10 times a day. I’m a firm believer telling people you love them when you think about it, so that’s what I do. Every time I think “gosh, I love him.” I tell him too!
Hehe we say it about ten million times a day. When I leave for work in the morning, when I leave the computer to get lunch, when I leave work, at the end of every phone call, and a thousand little random times in the middle of the day. It may seem excessive to some, but I just like how every time I’m not with him, that was always the last thing we said to each other. 
i’m up there with Miss Bluebell– it’s our conversation ender, goodbye substitute, etc. then we also say it about a million other times randomly and apropos nothing else.
that Mr. Daisy, he’s just that gosh darn lovable. what’s a girl to do?
all day, every day
We say it a lot (me more than him, but still, for example, at the end of every phone call). I agree with the posters above - if you think it, say it! I always do, because (and not to be morbid) you read stories about people who go missing or who are suddenly in an accident…and their loved ones didn’t get a chance to say “I love you.” Better to say it so people know.
We say it all the time! It just comes so natually =) I need to be fed with I love yous and I’m constantly hungry =P
When we first said I love you to each other, I used to say it ALLLLL the time. He didn’t. He “reserved” them. He said it took about the meaning behind it, esp if said like in passing.
Ha, but now, he says it ALLLLLLLL the time. Sure, it’s more likely because it’s so natural, but I know we both mean it when we say it. Just like how I need a good night kiss before I pass out, I love an I Love you after a phonecall, leaving for work, etc….
Now that I think about it, he says it more than me. He says them in emails all the time!
I believe that no matter how many times you hear “I love you” from someone that you love…it is NEVER enough
every phone call, every morning, every night… Repetition of truth doesn’t diminish it!
we say ours every day - a text in the morning before work, a text in the afternoon so that we both know that even though work may be kicking our a$$ at the moment or if the day is rough, there is still always someone who LOVES you, and then at the end of the night.
I agree, if you feel it, say it.. This may seem a bit morbid - but in this world, who knows what will happen next, and who knows how many opportunities you will get to say it.. after my friend’s fiance passed away so suddenly, I’ve realized how precious every moment you have with the person you love is.. so you should say it when you feel it…
Fi and I say it so many times a day, I couldn’t count them if I tried! I think it is important to tell your beloved that they are truly loved- whether it be by saying the words, or by doing something that makes them feel it. Luckily, I have found a mushy Fi! After years of dating total insensitive jerks- it is surely a refreshing change!!
too many to count! we text it to each other, call each other just to say it, end each conversation with it…sometimes we start a conversation with it. though he loves it when i just keep repeating it. but i still feel that same rush of excitement i felt when he said ‘i love you’ the first time.
my bf makes sure i know how he feels about me and about our relationship so i never have to worry or ask. and that’s one of the many reasons why i love him.
All the time!! and every phone call is a routine quick “Love you bye.” as if it was one word. If one of us forgets to say it, we always call each other back. It’s almost so routine, that when I talk to my boss, it almost slips out! haha
We say it all the time. For example, at the end of a phone conversation or IM convo. Not a day goes by without us saying “i love you.” When we were younger and were around our family….it felt kind of weird to say “i love you” so we said “elephant shoes.” If you mouth the words they look as if you are saying i love you. It’s silly but sometimes out of the blue he’ll say elephant shoes. Ahhhh….he’s so dreamy….LOL…
he’s a serious boyfriend, but we haven’t really said it that much. i say it all the time, but subtley. he’ll ask me why i did something, and i’ll say “because i love you”. he usually replies with “i know”. the few times he has said it, it chokes him up.
him: “know what?”
me: “what?”
he pulls me close and holds me, and i can almost hear his eyes welling.
him: “i love you.”
“i love you too.”
and he won’t let me look at him, because his eyes are all teary and he’s smiling.
same with affection… he doesn’t really like to show affection in public (like holding hands), but when we’re with close friends or in private, he’s very touchy-feely. he finds a way to touch me when he’s nervous, or happy, or just wants to know i’m near. we could be just like every other couple, and say it all the time, or be all over each other… but it’s very special when we are close, or do verbally say it. actions speak infinitely louder than words, in our ‘verse.
EVERYDAY
multiple times a day. there are so many ways to say i love you: conversation enders, before/after short sweet hugs, making love, just during dinner..ALL the time. i’m more affectionate than my FH. I hug, kiss, tell him i love him probably more. he likes it. =)
heh. well. my fiancee used to side with your friend that if you say it too often it ruins the meaning.
until one day i said to him, but when i say it, i mean it every time… so if anything i think you can never say it too much.
so now he agrees with me. heh.
