Reader Buzz: Date Night

September 28th, 2006 @ 9:30 am by Mrs. Bee

Once upon a time when I was but a single lass, I heard about a phenomenon called “date night.” A friend I used to work with had a standing date every Sunday with her then boyfriend (and now husband). Without fail he brought her flowers on every single date night year after year after year. I thought it was the sweetest thing and always wanted a date night of my very own.

Then one day I met the dashing Mr. Bee and we fell in love and married. My dreams of having a regular date night finally came true! But eventually both of us got so busy, we stopped having one. :( As luck would have it though, Mr. Bee started teaching a class every Wednesday this semester, so he gets home by 6:30. This means date night has returned - hooray!

Do you have a regular date night?

We had date night for many years– officially it was pizza after work at our fave place around the corner. It was AWESOME. But then Mr. Lily started working crazy hours and it only happens occasionally. Some people bring sexy back, but I’m rooting for date night!

We wish! When you have a kid around you 24/7 yippy yappy it’s hard to have a date ALONE. I hope you ladies cherish the QT alone with your man before starting a family =)

We don’t have a specific date night because his schedule is different every week, but we make sure that we do something special at least once a week.

Not quite date night, but we have what we call “Thai Thursday.” I am sure you never could have guessed what that entails: we order in Thai food and watch our favorite Thursday shows.

We don’t have planned date nights, but they’re usually Friday. Sometimes we ask other couples to join us for dinner, other times, we like to hit up our favorite restaurants alone. Lately though, we’ve been working late nights, so we’ve done the Beer/Pizza/Philly Cheesesteaks and watching LOST marathons.

We also sometimes bring home little gifts for each other random times during the week. Sometimes it’s something nice like a shirt or jewelry, but I love it when we bring each other our favorite chocolate bars or a homemade cupcake snatched from work.

Our date night is at home on Thursdays. After work we meet at the gym. Stop at the grocery store together for something easy for dinner. Make dinner together, then watch CSI. HEY THAT’S TONIGHT!!! :)

Our date night is also on Thursdays. We use it as an opportunity to try new restaurants while still having quiet time together.

No, unfortunately I am a student, so our date nights are usually random and scheduled ahead of time, which is like once each month/month and a half.
