Reader Buzz: TV Shows

September 29th, 2006 @ 11:13 am by Mrs. Bee

In a Reader Buzz on quality time earlier this week, I mentioned that most couples I talk to spend time together by watching tv. In yesterday’s Reader Buzz on date night, Mrs. Grasshopper said that her weekly date night is Thai Thursday where she and Mr. Grasshopper order in Thai and watch their favorite Thursday tv shows.

This got me to thinking about tv shows we watch with our significant others. I love home design/remodeling shows and girly shows like Veronica Mars, but Mr. Bee isn’t into them. The shows we do watch together are Law & Order, Project Runway (our first season watching), and 24. When I was at Miss Butterfly’s bachelorette party last weekend, Mr. Bee caught a Scrubs marathon so now he’s sucked into that show too which is great because it’s one of my favorites! :)

What tv shows do you and your significant other enjoy together?

We make an effort to watch The Daily Show and the Colbert Report every night, and also watch That 70’s Show and Seinfeld when we can catch it. We also always snuggle in the same position when we watch it :-)

fi is astonished that i am currently following 21 shows (thank you, tifaux, thank you!) but we make sure to watch “the office” and “lost”; if we don’t watch together, we call each other right after and discuss.

janie says:

CSI, LOST, HGTV (haha - he loves it), Las Vegas and tons more.

turtle says:

We watch Lost (right now we’re going through all of season 2 AGAIN) before the season premier). We used to watch Arrested Development, Sunday night on HBO, and House religiously.

Miss Daisy says:

we Law & Order (all incarnations), Scrubs, the Simpsons and we’re going to give “Knights of Prosperity” a go. not sure what else. i am on my own for Survivor, Project Runway, Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Duets. (and i will be for Veronica Mars as well as America’s Next Top Model, once they’re back).

I’m trying to get him hooked on shows I like. Currently, we’re watching Prison Break, 6 Degrees, and Project Runway together.

lost, 24, law and order, greys anatomy, prison break and nightly news.

Jennifer says:

The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, Arrested Development (before it’s way too early demise), Lost, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, all the house flipping shows on TLC - Discovery - HGTV, Veronica Mars, football on Sundays, Mets games when they are on here (we live in Florida but are originally from NY).

I’m sure there are many more to add to the list but that’s all I can think of now. We love the little people in the box. Thank god for our DVR!

And one last thing, GO METS! :)

24, Prison Break, Vanished, Standoff, House, Nip/Tuck, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, Dancing with the Stars, ER, Family Guy, Heroes, Football, Project Runway, America’s Next Top Model… ok ok so some of those shows are shows that I wanna watch but the fi will sit with me and keep my company while i watch. :-)

SuzyCat says:

Heroes, House, Lost, The Office and few others. I will admit that I got FI hooked on Gilmore Girls, he was actually conisidering us watching that over House, which is now on at the same time: D

shanbrite2 says:

I don’t think Veronica Mars is “girly,” even though the main character is a girl. The hubs and I watched the first two seasons like maniacs on DVD, and now we can watch it on “real” TV because it no longer conflicts with our other show: LOST!

21.
Beth says:

We watch Lost and West Wing (only on DVD now :() together regularly. I got FI hooked to Project Runway, although he’ll only admit to watching it for Heidi to other people.

22.
Jayme says:

i can usually talk him into watching the food network with me (yay for Rachael Ray!), but only if i watch overhaulin’ with him.

Any show on Food Network, Whose Wedding is it Anyway/Bridezilla (Yes, he watches and enjoy), Yankees games, Monday Night Football, Top Chef

I am on my own for Dancing with the Star, Project Runway, America’s Next Top Model

He is on his own for his HBO addictions

Jen says:

We watch so many shows, it’s insane. Lost, Veronica Mars, Supernatural, CSI, and I made him watch One Tree Hill Season 1 and 2 on DVD with me — he said he liked it though! I’m working on getting him hooked on Grey’s Anatomy, and he got ME hooked on Prison Break and House. We also watch reruns of That 70’s show together, but I draw the line at watching The Simpsons with him - I can’t stand that show.

26.
kanipark says:

oh my… too many to mention… but our #1 favorite HAS to be 24 :)

27.
m says:

top chef, how i met your mother, the office (u.s. & bbc), made to order, and baseball (faves: dodgers & braves) :)

29.

alessette says:

we used to watch “the west wing” together while it was on. it was my all time favorite show and when i was too busy or away, he’d remember to record it for me… =P

35.
Beta says:

God bless Top Chef! We started watching the show together and the next thing I know, my FI was cooking for me every night. Something from the show really inspired him. Now that the show has been in rerun world for a while, his thrill of cooking has slipped away. I can’t wait for the new season and all the tasty food I will eat.

Since our schedules are so busy, we love TV on DVD. We’ll buy a season and watch it together on our time. Our most recent purchase was Firefly and we really enjoyed it.

Lana says:

Our friend loaned me her first season of Nip Tuck. He caught part of the first episode as I was watching and was instantly hooked, just as I was! Now when we watch, he’ll watch through the gross parts as I turn away and he’ll let me know when it’s over…but sometimes he doesn’t just so he can watch me freak out. :-P
