Stress Relief

September 29th, 2006 @ 3:00 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

In my not-so-humble opinion, all future brides need a few failsafe methods of stress relief. Amid our hundreds of vendor meetings, countless DIY projects and endless phone conversations with ‘maids, moms, and MILs, the stress can really start to build up.

Now, we can take this out on our hapless fiances (which I’m sure Mr. Blueberry would really appreciate) or be attuned to ourselves. Being aware of what stresses you out, as well as having a method or two of relieving that stress, can be the difference between this:

and this:

When I need to de-stress, I’ll go on a long walk, veg out in front of the TV with my cross-stitching, hang out at Starbucks for a while or, if I have no time at all, close my eyes and count to 10 really slowly.

After I’ve had a while to rest and refresh–even if it is just 15 minutes–I always find I’m better prepared to tackle whatever task is at hand.

How do you de-stress?

I knit.

Just kidding. ;)

Actually, I put on my earbuds, and get a book. Or take a nap. But yes, I do snap at my fiance a lot. A lot of the time a nice popsicle makes me feel better!

Yoga. Or go to a girlfriends house and drink martini’s. We can always make fun of ourselves and forget the worlds problems!

Do you by chance listen to Dr. Laura? And also, you cross-stitch???? I thought I was the only person under the age of 50 who cross-stitched!!! If you answered yes to both questions, are you ME? :)

I actually talk to my MOH. She was also planning a wedding (Just married Saturday!) and she lives in Paris!
She has been my bff since we were wee children and talking to her online or just pouring my heart out in an e-mail takes all the stress away. I haven’t seen her in two years since she moved to France but we are still just as close as always and she always clams me down.

My stress got really bad, so I bought a video game (kingdom hearts 2) where I would sit and play for hours. Reminded me when I was a teenager:3

I take kickboxing twice a week. I find that kicking and punching a bag for an hour really helps keep my frustrations and stress under control. And its circuit kickboxing, so its good cardio too!
