Makeup Trial I

September 30th, 2006 @ 4:26 pm by Mrs. Apple

I stopped by the Laura Mercier counter earlier this week to get a makeup trial done for the wedding and my engagement photo session next week. I decided to go with them because I might as well start with the top of the line makeup counters and compare them to other counters. I was also tempted to go to Bobbi Brown or Trish McEvoy, but the counters were empty with no makeup artists.

All in all, I would give her work an 8 **(star) since I could tell she knew what she was doing by her makeup techniques - blending, creating lids, shadows, highlights on my eyes and cheeks, use of eye liner underneath the eyelashes (a little uncomfortable). The top of her palm was a canvas of different colors.

I was a little worried because most makeup artists that have worked on my face ended f-ing up my eyes, and I would end up looking like some Asian porn star with heavy amounts of eyeshadow and hot pink lipstick. I’ll probably try a couple more makeup artists just to compare.

Here are some pictures… I hope you can tell that I have some makeup on. I was trying to go for the look in the Zhang Zi Yi makeup photos I posted before. Similar makeup but not quite the same effect because of my fat round head! Argh! Ha.

I totally forgot to take a picture of myself before the trial, but I found a picture of me with no makeup.

Lovely, dear–looks natural, youthful and appropriate.
I love your website–I’m also getting married and it’s always tough to find the right styles as an Asian American living among the Irish blondes and Italian brunettes.

Beautiful.

Also, I appreciated the celebrity pictures earlier. I hadn’t put much thought into make-up up until now because I almost never wear any. I tried searching for tips on the internet about how to do Asian eyes, because I always hate eyeshadow on me, but I didn’t find anything great.
