Reader Buzz: Best Weddings

October 1st, 2006 @ 2:20 pm by Mrs. Bee

Miss Violet mentioned that the wedding she went to this weekend was the best one she’d ever attended. That got me thinking about the best weddings I’ve ever been to and what made them so great. Mr. Bee and I have been to some great weddings but one that stands out is Mr. Bee’s business partner’s father’s wedding. Why was it so great?

It was different than all the church weddings I’d been to in the past. But it wasn’t the venue, or the flowers, or the food… it was the energy of the reception.

The band was simply amazing. They had everyone on the dance floor all night long, including the bride and groom who were having the time of their lives. (Note: The bride and groom on the dance floor always keeps the party going - they really do set the tone!) The vibe was just one big nonstop party. And despite my knowing only a handful of people at the wedding, I had so much fun at the wedding. (No offense to all my friends who read this site! I loved all your weddings too. :))

What are some of the best weddings you’ve ever been to? What made them so great?

i mirror your sentiments - the best wedding i’ve been to did not have the fanciest venue, or the best food, or the most expensive flower arrangements. it was simply the energy level. the dance floor was crowded until midnight, and the groom and bride were SO in love it was hard not to notice.

Yup that’s it! It’s the great room. I had forgotten the name of the venue but looked it up online after you mentioned it.

the “best” wedding i’ve been to, the bride & groom made the effort to make it a party that ALL their guests would enjoy - regardless of age. The kids had their activity kits, adults had their booze and age appropriate music, older folks got their share of ballroom dancing at some point. A party for all ages!

The best one I’ve went to so far was a small wedding, yet the couple were so in love. The food was great, the music was great and we just had a lot of fun.

my favorite was the same, very low budget but still filled with all the love that’s supposed to be celebrated. the ceremony and reception was very simple but very indicative of the couple. plus, with tons of family and friends, many of us have known each other since junior high, it was going to be one big party regardless. the bride and groom were on the dancefloor with the rest of us jokers. it was best!

Cheesecake instead of real cake, only two toasts, the bride did a toast, so did the groom, they rode away on a scooter. It was fun without being “you have to have fun cause our wedding is different”

The best wedding I went to was one of my friends, and both my boyfriend and I agreed it was the best wedding we were ever invited to. Both of us said it was the energy level (the people there)…everyone was very outgoing and spent the whole night dancing and talking with each other even though I know that a lot of us didn’t know each other. No was was shy or sat back…not even the bride’s 80 something yr old grandmother. We had to drag her off the dance floor, but she kept coming back up. I really loved it because most weddings I go to, no one really dances or make use of everything the couple paid for in their reception.
