In today’s beehive:

  • Tea is reseaching possible themes for her best friend’s shower and is thinking of doing a luau theme since she’s honeymooning in Hawaii. Any suggestions for decorations, favors, and food?
  • Katie’s father recently passed away and she would like to include his name on the invitation. Suggestions for wording?

I’m researching possible themes for my best friend’s bridal shower. I’m thinking of doing something like a luau since her honeymoon will be in Hawaii. Any decoration, favor, and food ideas?

check out party city and even target. i’m sure they have a lot of affordable luau decorations. as for food, fresh fruit, mahi mahi fish, refreshing tropical drinks.. sounds like it’s going to be a fun bridal shower! make sure to order a leis for the bride to be. i just did a quick search for you re: favors and decor.

My father has recently passed and I would like to include him on the wedding invitation. I have yet to find a nicely worded example. I understand that it is a happy occasion and etiquette recommends that the deceased be ommitted but etiquette ain’t getting married I AM and I would like to have my dad’s name on the invite!

suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Bee…..

Hi - I just got engaged last month and am starting to think about venues. There’s just so much out there and hard to pick a place to start. We’re keeping our options open right now so our starting point encompasses NYC, Long Island, Hudson Valley, etc. (anything within a reasonable commute from Manhattan).

i’m wondering if anyone is willing to share their research on reception venues in NYC/broader NYC - whether it be notes they jotted down when visiting venues or an excel sheet of details. I’m sure I’m not the only excel nut out there!

Thanks so much!

JL. I’m getting married in Westbury Manor, LI (about 30 mins away from Manhattan) I’m not sure what type of wedding you’re envisioning but we’ll be doing an outdoor ceremony & cocktail followed by indoor reception in September 07. I love the place. It used to be a mansion now converted into a catering hall. We only looked at 6 venues. http://www.liweddings.com is a good source to look up venues with info. for the Long Island area. The two main factors I kept in mind was price and the look of the place.

Let me know if you have more questions.. Happy to help! Good luck!
