Beehive

October 4th, 2006 @ 3:17 pm by Beehive

In today’s beehive:

  • Yukirei is looking for sites to buy quality silk peonies, ranunculus, or dahlias to make a hand-tied bouquet for a photo shoot.
  • Arian is looking for stores that sell vintage jewelry boxes as a gift for her MIL.
  • Lixue is looking for great St. Louis photographers - she’s new to the city.
  • christine is looking for unique indoor venues other than museums and art galleries where she can hold a ceremony and a reception.

christine: an arboretum might have a indoor site; it also offers beautiful views and the option for people who might want to go outside.
bed and breakfasts are great for small weddings, as are historic homes.

Christine - check symphonic concert halls, and universities. Many universities have beautiful art halls, etc.

depending on the location, some lofts (nyc has a bunch), and there’s some others I know of in nyc, at least: The Foundry, Angel Orensanz Foundation Center, Botanical Gardens, Bronx Zoo, an old fisherman’s lodging/site/place (I forget the details, it’s by the seaport), lodges (not quite that unique, but some pretty cool ones up in the adirondacks, I think), ditto on the universities: chapels there & event spaces, also, the Hudson Theater in nyc - old theatre, now an event space, Aquarium (know of a rehearsal dinner at one).

Imagine any space that accomodates the right number of people. Where do big groups of people go?

Some big buildings (even midtown-officey-ones) have very big, nice lobbies that could work. OH! and if you have the budget!! (IT’S REALLY EXPENSIVE, I THINK), Grand Central Station. Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn is not unique in that it’s a big hall, but if you look at the place you’ll see how different it is from the typical ballroom.

Can you tell I was on the hunt for a unique venue in nyc…

I found silk ranunculus at Hobby Lobby for my bridal portraits bouquet. I don’t know if they’re real enough looking for you, but here are some of my pics:

Thank you Mrs. Bee! I love Tinsel too but it looks like they don’t have what I’m looking for…
Pam your pictures look awesome, I love that ranunculus bouquet and the beaded stem wrap, it defnitely looks real enough for me…I don’t have a Hobby Lobby near me but I did find some peonies and ranunculus at Michaels, after seeing your pics I’m almost certain I’m going with these.=)
