Open Question: In House Vendors

October 4th, 2006 @ 3:44 pm by Open Question

Are in-house vendors typically more or less expensive than outside vendors? I was thinking of using my venue’s in-house florist since I thought it would be cheaper. But I was told by someone else that the venue will need to take a cut from the in-house florist, therefore making it more expensive. Now I’m confused. I’d appreciate any advise so I can decide on the florist and DJ.

Thank you.

Helen

hm

check your contract, and discuss with the coordinator at the site.

in some cases, it may be more expensive, but you may get more. for example, a hotel site may have an on-site florist who will order flowers for your wedding as well as the hotel lobby, gift shop, and special orders. the florist may be able to get more flowers at a better rate due to the volume.

ask for references, samples and especially photos, lots and lots of photos.

Hi hm,

it really depends, so do your research. we used out in house caterer even though we had the option to hire an outside caterer because it was just easier. i would say the price was comparable to what we would have paid with an outside caterer (actually it was probably a little less even).

the most important thing is to ask for references from past brides who got married at the same venue and used the in house vendors. don’t be shy about asking questions or asking for 3-5 references…. brides are usually a very helpful bunch!

good luck! :)

I would suggest you treat the situation like you would if they were all outside vendors. Compare pricing, quality, service and references to decide who is the best based on your priorities.
