Barton Creek Country Club Resort & Spa

October 5th, 2006 @ 12:31 pm by Mrs. Plum

Last weekend, my family and I went on a weekend trip down to Austin to visit my sister who goes to school there. We also went to the UT football game with the owner of my dad’s company and his childhood friend, the vp, who also works at the company.

We stayed at the Barton Creek Resort & Spa, which as previously mentioned, was the site of many weddings and even hosted the wedding reception of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey! The grounds were so peaceful and serene, not to mention gorgeous! I never wanted to leave!

Here are some of the multi-million dollar mansions on the property of the Barton Creek Country club - this is a view from our room.

Another pretty look - sorry the trees are so dark (in the bottom of the picture)

We even saw a family of deer! (can you spot them?)

Then of course, I spent morning here - poolside! :) Their pool is so great - it’s big and I had it all to myself! I didn’t take a good picture of the pool, but here’s one from their site:

However, I did take a bad picture of their hot tub with the sun - haha

I would post a picture/write something about the game, but it was uneventful - we went to have beer, margaritas, and fajitas at the Texas Exes Center - the Alumni/Ex Student Center and there were thousands of people tailgating, wearing orange (school color) - it was fun, but it was also sweltering hot - 98 or so degrees.

I forgot to add that the rooms are priced around $300 up to $660ish a night, but if you have a membership to the Barton Creek Country Club, room rates are $190 per night! (which is the rate we got! :)) So, either become a member or find a friend who is a member! Albeit membership is around $30k and up…..so I guess that’s not really “saving” money. :P

Wowsers very pretty! Oh austin has such pretty rolling hills. I’d I had a choice to live anywhere in texas I’d pick austin bc of its diversity and gorgeous scenic views. I need to take another trip down there soon.

I had my honeymoon at Barton Creek and it was not worth the money. Our suite was clean and nice but nothing like what you would expect for the price. Room service was overpriced and the service we received was terrible. They got our dinner order wrong on the 1st and 2nd try. By the time my husband’s dinner arrived as he had ordered, it was so cold that he didn’t even want to eat it anymore. Also, the staff does not respect your privacy. On our first night, we were startled to hear another voice in the other room of our suite after we had already gone to bed! Apparently, the man entered because we didn’t answer his knocking at our door. Lastly, we were very disappointed that there was no mention of us being on our honeymoon during our stay. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we would not go back. I also had my wedding reception at Barton Creek and the service I received was even worse: Barton Creek’s event coordinators were unprofessional and inexperienced. My husband and I were often given misinformation about important details regarding our event. Their Director of Catering was condescending and unhelpful. She scoffed at our ideas and was more focused on her own personal life than on our wedding. Her assistant was mistake-prone and misinformed us many times of prices, availability, etc. The catering department served us a delicious meal at our tasting but the actual dinner at our reception was tasteless and the portions were tiny. Barton Creek threw in hidden costs at every opportunity, including charging us for items that we were originally told would be “included”…the list of disappointments is very long. Barton Creek made what was supposed to be a fun experience very stressful and trying. I sincerely regret having my event at Barton Creek and learned from my wedding coordinator that establishments such as The Four Seasons and The Driskill do not have such problems. I highly recommend going with another hotel for your vacation or event.
