Color themes for Fall! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~ MRC Bride

*Le sigh*
I wish I had a fall wedding. I love autumn. It’s my favorite season and it’s too friggin short man. Why God why?!

We have a big yard at my mom’s house and we used to rake all the time. I don’t mind the first rake of the season, but after that my mom would yell at us to do it. Our front yard looked like an Asian refugee camp with 6 women raking in sweats with no make up on. Hahaha…. I’m day dreaming and you can’t stop me.

Ok fine you can.

So fall color themes! Wow what a great topic! You can really do anything! So many choices! Browns, greens, oranges, yellows, reds…. sooo many to pick from. You can incorporate vegetables, lanterns, pinecones, and even acorns. I also remember seeing a photo of mini pumpkins and gourds spray painted lightly with gold which was nice.

I used green, brown, and creams for our spring wedding which you could also use for a fall wedding. Here are some Bio’s that I found on The Knot to give you some visual inspiration.

You should check out my blog, you’ll find I’m doing a November 3, 2007 wedding, and it’s all fall themed, my friend even did an acorn for our STDs!

First of all, you can do whatever colors you want, whatever season you want. If you have a date in late October, but you love pastels, screw it - do pastels. Or if your wedding is in July, but you want silver and blue (traditional “winter”) then go for it.

It is your wedding, and you can have whatever colors whenever. It drives me batty when people tell me they like my fall colors (Nov wedding). I picked them because they’re bright and fun, not because it is fall, but apparantly the fact that there’s a little bit of a red and an orange in there, people think “OOOH! Fall!!”

So, my advice on color themes for fall: check out your venue (if it has strong colors, clashing would be bad), and the sort of wedding you want (colors are good for conveying a mood: old world elegance? Modern? funky/fun?) and see how it all fits together. Worry about the season last.

I also recommend going to a paint store and playing around with all their color sample cards - there’s tons of colors, and it’s free.
