For a while, I was on a mad hunt for a nice cake server set. I couldn’t find anything anywhere. Everything had bows or hearts or birds or pearls or sparkly things… not that there’s anything wrong with that, I just didn’t think they’d fit our scheme. I also decided against silverplate and anything engraved. Why oh why do I do this to myself?? Ha, I must like the torture, or um, the research…
Finally, I stumbled upon Replacements.com. I had an ah-ha moment! Located in this site was all the silverware research I needed. After looking through several patterns, my heart found Wallace’s Grande Baroque- sterling silver from 1941. Sounds like a good year to me!

The cake server & wedding cake knife have been ordered and once they’re delivered I’ll post an update!
I know this may be too ornate for some, but Replacements.com has LOTS & LOTS of silverware and tons of patterns if you have the patience to scroll through the options.
I love Replacements.com. Besides browsing the patterns, I happen to possess a full set of Dirilyte (Dirigold) Empress flatware and it’s a great place to pick up added pieces.
