Today marks the one year anniversary of our engagement, so I thought today would be a perfect day to kick off our wedding recap. I’d like to start by giving a shoutout to Mrs. Firefly for creating a great reviewing and recap style, which I will borrow for the same purposes. Anyway, here we go…

Hello and welcome to my wedding day!

Claudia Pedala working on my coiffe.

As well as some much needed makeup. The final week of wedding planning + no sleep = black circles under my eyes.
Claudia Pedala did hair and makeup for my mom, the bridal party and me. I really liked Claudia. I liked my first trial enough to know to hire her for the wedding beautification, but I wanted to go back for a second trial to explore some other options. She was great with exploring ideas. She must have gone through 6 different hair styles on my second trial trying to find the right look for me, even after I had agreed to the first version. But she really nailed it on the final option, which is what we went with the day of the wedding.
She traveled to my apartment in Brooklyn the day of the wedding and gave everyone a unique style that fit their face. Claudia was great about listening to what we wanted and kept on working it out until everyone was happy with the result.

Melissa gave Claudia license to “Do whatever you want. I’m easy.”

My college roommate, Julie, is a former ballerina and spent years doing her own performance makeup. When she got married 6 years ago (we were just little kids straight out of college back then), she did all of her bridesmaids’ makeup before doing her own, leaving ten minutes for herself. Needless to say, she looked great and we made it to the church on time!

My niece Caitlin helping her Mom with her nails.

The pink ladies finally in their dresses.

Is this enough bling?

Attempting to give my dress a last minute steam. I would not recommend this. The steamer was a piece, and ended up collecting the pink dye from the bridesmaid dresses. Had I not tested the steamer first, I would have ended up with pink blotches on my dress.

Backflash! I’ll try to keep this PG-13 from now on.

Papparazzi!

My first look (I could have smiled, huh?).

My sister trying to convince Cait to lose the beaded hippie necklace.

Some getting ready music. Perhaps, some “Final Countdown” By Europe? Oh, you want to see the super awesome video too? Here you go:
All wedding photos were taken by Youngna Park. Youngna is friend who also happens to be a very talented professional photographer. It took me a while to decide if I wanted someone we knew to shoot the wedding or someone who shoots weddings somewhat regularly. In the end we decided on Youngna because we thought the result of the photos might be better if the person knew us and our personalities. I think we were right. Wedding day photos were so low impact, it was just everyone hanging out having a good time. Our party, ceremony and candid shots turned out great.
More to come…
omg, I love your hair! It’s sooooo pretty, I’m saving that picture in my folder for my hairstylist to see! You look beautiful in your dress!
